IOL's and protein deposits30 Sep 2008 17:52 GMT1
A friend of mine said that lenses implanted during cataract surgery
have had a history of problems with getting cloudy over time due to
protein buildup on the lenses.  Is this still a problem with modern
IOL materials?  Do implanted lenses have the same problem with protein
Temporary blindness30 Sep 2008 00:10 GMT10
On Easter 2006, May 2008 and July 2008, I experienced, in both eyes
equally, a dimming of vision to blackness and then a return to normal.
It was like someone was turning a light dimmer switch to off and then
back to full brightness. Each time, the event was over in about 30

Subject: Visual Acuity test and Refractive STATE verification.
The idea is to be objective, and understand
both these measurements.
Here is the test.

How Many?21 Sep 2008 01:29 GMT22
It's a well established fact that a respectable woman cannot appear in public
twice wearing the same outfit.  Men, of course, can.  But is there an
obligation for a woman who happened to wear glasses to have a different pair
with a different frame for every public appearance?

this question:
Most durable AR coating for eyeglasses?14 Sep 2008 00:21 GMT12
I had an el-cheapo Anti-reflective coating that was destroyed after
about 6 months and exchanged the lenses for  a set without AR.
I was careful about cleaning - use a microfiber cloth, wash them first
and the coating came off anyway. Thankfully I had warranty.
driving blind--cheating the DMV11 Sep 2008 22:18 GMT31
OK, so this is a great story on how the DMV are really lame, and how
easy it is to cheat them and drive when it otherwise should be
illegal.  Here goes…
I was born a high hyperope, and have worn +8D glasses since before I
Toric silicon contacts?07 Sep 2008 00:04 GMT4
Although I haven't had any luck in the past, I'm going to give contacts
another shot. My problem stems from very dry eyes. I was told that some
of the newer silicon contacts should be more helpful but I'm wondering
if they are available in toric.
Eye exam - near/far vision02 Sep 2008 22:35 GMT4
When you get an exam for glasses, does the test give the doctor one
number for near vision, and one number for far vision?
If so, how does the doctor then decide what to write for Cylinder, if
the two are different?
cataracts, night vision & "night glasses"02 Sep 2008 06:05 GMT6
I'll be having cataract surgery & have read info on cataracts & its
effect on limiting night vision.  Wondering if the yellow tinted
"night driving glasses" will help with night driving.
I guess the night driving glasses may cut down glare but have doubts
Latent Hyperopia - Child age 6 - glasses?  (+3.25 script)02 Sep 2008 00:24 GMT29
I'm a confused mom at the moment.
A year ago, my then 5 year old child had his eyes tested (by a clinical
ophthalmologist who I feel did a thorough exam) and I was told he was
borderline for needing glasses, but if he wasn't manifesting any problems
