Does not wearing my glasses damage my eyes?31 Jul 2008 13:27 GMT27
I'm a 17 year old female, about a year ago I got contacts when my glasses
prescription went up to -1.75. I really love contacts but was told only to
wear them 5 days in a week. At home I can go without my glasses if I don't
want to watch tv but my mum is pestering me now to wear ...

The Math of Reading/Computer Glasses?28 Jul 2008 10:20 GMT14
A friend of mine recently got some "computer glasses" to go with his
regular glasses (he's nearsighted), and says that looking at his
computer for long periods doesn't make his eyes hurt as much anymore.
I may look into that myself, but what I'm immediately interested in is
Tired eye27 Jul 2008 23:06 GMT4
I have a new eye prescription of -1.75 and -2.75. For general things – in the
house, even walking down the street – I don’t see too badly. If I need to see
well like at the cinema or driving I always wear my glasses. Now though it’s
like my worst eye gets strained without glasses.
Accomodative Esotropia26 Jul 2008 21:54 GMT1
My daughter was recently diagnosed with accomodative esotropia, and
has been prescribed glasses.  This diagnosis has been confirmed via a
second opinion visit to another doctor.
Question is, for a moderate case of accomodative esotropia, how many

Understanding nearsightedness / farsightedness corrections23 Jul 2008 05:40 GMT3
I've been nearsighted forever but recently I've required correction for
reading (I'm in my 40's).  So I currently have glasses with progressive that
does the trick.  I believe my correction is a -7 for distance and +2 for
reading.  Now there are times that I wear contacts ...
Vision in RGP vs. Glasses23 Jul 2008 00:08 GMT2
I have a minor (-0.75) astigmatism only prescription.  When I wear my
glasses I tend to feel a little spaced out and sleepy and have
difficulty staying focused.  When I wear my contacts everything is
great, except that I have minor dry eye which makes it hard to wear

Why do optometrists do things an ophthalmologist should do, and vice     versa?15 Jul 2008 08:39 GMT19
Any thoughts on optometrists treating non-refractive eye problems?
Could any one compare the refraction abilities of an ophthalmologist
vs. those of an optometrist, or are they both equal? And why do they
let optometrists --in the US-- treat things like glaucoma, cataracts,

something we can do to stop it?
Disposable Lenses for Water Sports or Camping14 Jul 2008 19:58 GMT2
Last week I got fitted for RGPs and paid $190 for custom cut lenses
(including taxes and insurance).  Several years ago I lost a lens
while windsurfing so I'm thinking about getting some soft lenses from
one of the mail order places for use in situations where there is an
RGP Material14 Jul 2008 16:43 GMT9
I wore Fluroperm 151 RGP lenses from 1995 until last year when an
optometrist recommended that I switch to O2Optix lenses.  He said that
I would see better with an aspheric design lens.  Although I had less
of a problem with dust while wearing the larger soft lens, I think my
