Who decides who is "cured"?14 Apr 2008 20:59 GMT5
Dear Second-opinion friends,
Dr. Bates recommended that a person monitor his Snellen -- and
CLEAR IT, i.e., pass the required line.
This you can do for yourself -- if Bates is correct.

A very common phenomenon of imperfect sight is the one known to
medical science as muscae volitantes, or flying flies. These floating

Dr. Bates's material source?14 Apr 2008 18:42 GMT1
Just wondering, what is the source of all the digital Dr. Bate's material
that appears in this group?  Sometimes called "The Book".

Playing Piano Blindfolded14 Apr 2008 02:23 GMT30
I present this question for Mike Tyner or another conventional
ophthalmologist:
I can easily play complicated pieces of music on the piano with a
blindfold on. (So, obviously I cannot "see" the keys.)
Interesting Conversation14 Apr 2008 02:11 GMT33
This afternoon me and Andrew Judd shared an interested little chat on
Yahoo Instant Messenger. I think he was slightly frustrated at the end
because he was using a lot of cursing against me! Anyway, I shall post
it here for the interest of the reader.

Is Mike Tyner doing his homework?
I sure hope so.
Homework To Do List:
1. Read the works of Dr. Bates.
Need to know specific name of computerized phoropter14 Apr 2008 01:08 GMT6
I just had cataract surgery in my left eye last week, and an
intraocular lens was placed by the ophthalmologist.  I'm having the
right eye done in a few days.   My vision in my left eye, with the
implanted lens, is excellent.  I haven't had it checked yet but I'm
Success Curiosity13 Apr 2008 19:35 GMT39
I know many people who benefited from the Bates method.
Out of curiosity, has anyone improved their eyesight to perfect?  i.e.
started with 20/50 or worse and improved it to better than 20/20?
Please briefly share your experience,
Lenscrafter: New Glasses, 1.67 index, red edges, hard to focus13 Apr 2008 18:28 GMT2
I recently brought my new pair of glasses at Lenscrafter because of
their 30 days return policy. My prescription is about -7.0 on both
eyes with a bit of astigmatism in one. With these glasses I had hi-
index 1.67 lenses which are suppose to be from Essilor but the coating
The Logical Problem with Bates13 Apr 2008 09:00 GMT45
This is going to be a long post.  I'm sure it will be very boring to some (maybe even to
most) but I thought I'd post it for the people who know that Bates must be wrong but can't
quite put their finger on the reason.  I know Zetsu and the other Bates "true believers"
will not agree ...
The Doctor's Story12 Apr 2008 12:55 GMT2

One of the most striking cases of the relation of mind to vision that
ever came to my attention was that of a physician whose mental

Vitreous detachment - thousands of "Floaters"11 Apr 2008 02:39 GMT21
Hi. I'm 60 and am in the middle of a vitreous detachment. It started
with a symmetrical, snowflake-like pattern in the middle of my vision.
That was in Dec. '07. That pattern has darkened some over time, making
it increasingly difficult to read or view a computer screen. In Jan.
