Operation Miracle30 Nov 2007 14:42 GMT5
A spiffy new tour bus pulled up to the top eye hospital in Cuba on a
sunny day this month and disgorged 47 working-class people from El
Salvador, many of whom could barely see because they had thick
cataracts in their eyes.
New lens technologies?30 Nov 2007 13:45 GMT17
Does anyone here know of any company, university, etc. developing
holographic lenses, particularly implants?
We now have the computing power and optical technology that should be

I want migraine aurae without headaches.30 Nov 2007 00:57 GMT11
I would like to experience a migraine aura as long as there is nothing
but the aura and the aura is only temporary [approximately 15 minutes to
6 hours]. I've read about the aura and find it both enjoyable and scary
at the same time. I like the visual symptoms, the dizziness, the ...
Contact Lenses29 Nov 2007 15:05 GMT3
I have been wearing contact lenses for quite a while.  Recently when I

take them out and wear my glasses everything is alright so I know it
is the lenses.  This will happen everytime I wear my contacts.  Does

I am having a eye exam on Tuesday and will need to order new lenses.
I'm currently using Acuvue Oasys (monovision).  When I switched to the
Oasys I was thinking my contact lens days were coming to an end but
the Oasys were able to extend that for me.    I don't wear them

Contact Lens Trials28 Nov 2007 17:40 GMT24
This is a follow-up to what I wrote in the last post to the thread: "Toric
in one eye, multifocal in the other".
I haven't done anything about this since then, as I have been very busy. I'm
wondering what I should do to follow up?
Uncorrected myopia - wrinkles?28 Nov 2007 16:19 GMT2
I was wondering if by not wearing prescribed distance glasses one
could be accelerating the formation of wrinkles around one's eyes due
to straining. Could that be possible? I am thinking about the area at
the top of the cheekbone slightly below and to the side of each eye.

Muscle imbalance24 Nov 2007 23:29 GMT1
I'm ashamed to say I'm surfing the net for information and found something
interesting. My optician tells me that 'muscle imbalance' causes eyestrain. I
don't understand how but was interested to see this when doing some research,
this is from the Indian Journal of Opthalmology ...
Computer usage ok after cataract surgery?24 Nov 2007 19:17 GMT6
Is there any risk of further damage to my eyes after cataract surgery
by using a computer 8-12 hours a day?  I got rid of my CRT after the
surgery and only use LCD monitors at home and work.  I also eliminated
all florescent bulbs in my home.  What can I do to minimize the risk
possible to get contacts with 14 months old prescription?22 Nov 2007 20:38 GMT9
