Seeking re-assurance on my prescription24 Apr 2007 22:40 GMT16

I'm not completely convinced by the answers I was given to my questions
and I wonder if I could ask for some reassurance ?
For openers, my prescription is as follows:

I have double vision and dry eye caused either by a severe head injury
or a stroke.  The eye doc here is an older fellow that I guess doesn't
keep up with things as I learned this morning that therapy can be
effective but the doc never said anything about that; my solution for
Pinhole observation & double vision24 Apr 2007 06:41 GMT31
I am now having double vision (actually triple vision) in one eye.  My MD
(Ophthalmologist) suspects an early stage cataract that 'could' have what he
calls 'spokes' that can refract light, possibly giving a second image on the
retina.  Before taking any action he referred me to ...
Good Lens Choice for my Rx?24 Apr 2007 03:30 GMT10
Let me start off by mentioning I am an engineer by trade, but have
almost zero experience with optics.  I am getting ready to get a new

What does this mean in general? And would this be considered a

Strength of myopia24 Apr 2007 00:36 GMT4
I read that the earlier myopia starts the greater it becomes. Is it possible
to say what the average prescription might be for someone who developed some
myopia in the mid-20s?

Toric contacts22 Apr 2007 12:11 GMT8
Please could someone advise why toric contacts don't start till the
prescription is -0.75?  What happens to people who have a prescription less
than that, is the astigmatism uncorrected with contacts?  Thanks
New Glasses & Headache21 Apr 2007 22:20 GMT3
I got my new temporary glasses today, with a prism in the left good
eye and about 3D stronger Rx in the bad right eye.  It certainly
improved my vision in the right eye alone, though with considerable
distortion that apparently cannot be corrected, due to scars on my

Research into tolerance of refractive error19 Apr 2007 12:03 GMT2
Reading through posts on this site I've noticed a lot about different
attitudes to tolerance of refractive error. Has any research ever been done
that addresses why people have different tolerances and what physical factors
in the eye/brain influence it?
