In denial31 Dec 2006 22:21 GMT19
What do you do when you get a patient whose in denial about needing glasses?
My friend obviously can barely see past her nose but won't wear them, it just
seems so stupid and I don't know how to help.
Monovision glasses?31 Dec 2006 01:45 GMT3
I've read that wearing contact lenses is the only option when there is
a significant disparity in uncorrected vision between the eyes (say -1D
right eye and -5D left eye).  Would it be possible to make monovision
glasses that might work without the contact lenses?
Can difference in vision be explained?30 Dec 2006 04:31 GMT21
Is there a scientific explanation for why two people with the same
prescription appear to have different levels of vision?  For example, I've
read somewhere that two people who are -3 won't necessarily see the same
without glasses, one might see better/worse than the other.  What ...
Strange eye symptoms30 Dec 2006 02:26 GMT8
Most of the times in a day my eyes appear glassy(kind of mirrorish)
with a staring look. This makes my face look kinda devilish (sometimes
worse than that when the outer layer of my eyes starts reflecting
lights like a waxed surface)
pain in the eye/head when rolling29 Dec 2006 21:20 GMT1
Hi, I feel pain in the back of my right eye (or deep in the head, can't
locate exactly) when I roll my eye, look upward or rightward etc. I don't
feel much in the morning after sleep, but will feel more pain later in the
day. I don't feel this before with the same eyeglasses and ...

floaters29 Dec 2006 16:31 GMT3
I've had a few floaters (detached blood vessels) in my eyes all my life
but as I reached late 50's it suddenly got worse and I have concerns
that I will soon not be able to drive at night.
My doctor sent me to an eye specialist who tells me it's quite normal
RPG wearers? What solutions do you use?27 Dec 2006 20:37 GMT3
Anyone out there who uses RPG lenses?  I am having the worst time finding
wetting/soaking solutions.  All of the ones I have been able to use, they are
discontinuing.
What do you all use out there?
Angle of astigmatism - does it make a difference?27 Dec 2006 18:22 GMT3
I read that dependent on the angle of the astigmatism the same amount can be
worse in two people.  Which is the worst angle?  I've had -0.50 at either 140
or 150 for the last 5 years and this eye is more difficult to correct than
the other, could that be the reason?
Contact lenses27 Dec 2006 10:13 GMT17
I want to get contacts but someone said I will get used to wearing them I
won't be able to go without them. My prescription is -2.25 is it common for
people with this prescription to wear contact lenses or do they generally
wait till their prescription is higher?
Is vision getting better?27 Dec 2006 02:13 GMT3
I have posted several threads about my 3 year old on this site(-10.5 but sees
20/60 without glasses). My question is that a year ago when I brought my
daughter in to the pediatric opthalmologist he originally had her
perscription at -12.50 each eye. He gave her a lighter ...
correcting spherical without cylinder25 Dec 2006 16:14 GMT66
I'm probably using the wrong terms, but hopefully you'll get my point.
If I have a contacts prescription of -11 sph, -1.25 cyl. What would
happen if I wore spherical contacts -11 and left the astigmatism
uncorrected? What would my "equivalent" vision be like?

Disappointing New Progressives23 Dec 2006 23:19 GMT11
Earlier this week I picked up a new set of progressives following an
eye checkup that showed a small change in my Rx. I didn't need new
glasses, but I'm a bit of an eyeglass junkie and so I decided to treat
myself to another pair with trendy frames.
Scientists state that pseudo-myopia leads to axial myopia.23 Dec 2006 18:31 GMT16
Dear Prevention-minded freinds,
There are two opinions about the prevention of myopia:
The second-opinion, that on the threshold, if you could prevent
incipient myopia before a minus lens is applied, you could
