Eighths?17 Oct 2006 23:41 GMT31
I just found a spectacles website with Rx input drop-downs that
include spherical correction in eighths.  Are lens manufacturers now
able to (probably always have been, heh) or willing to produce
spectacles lenses with more discrete steps in correction?  Is my doc,
Light and dark adaptation of the eye17 Oct 2006 06:15 GMT4
I´d like to know if someone can help me with the following: Is it true
that the rods (during dark adaptation) and the cones (during light
adaptation) on the retina do all adapt to the same ambient light level
or do they just adapt to whatever light intensity hits them? If the
Sitting here in my new multifocal contact lens...need some input17 Oct 2006 04:22 GMT3
OK. I just got my new contacts--the right eye is the same as before--20 20
for far vision. (I now have presbyopia and this is my first attempt at
correction for that).
The left eye is the multi focal lens.  I just got home from the eyedoctor.
Astigmatism17 Oct 2006 04:08 GMT3
When does astigmatism cause visual disturbance? I've heard people say that
even 0.75 is nothing really so when does it interfere in a significant way?
Nose bridge and correction16 Oct 2006 23:51 GMT1
I have pretty high myopia (-9.25 in both eyes), with a slight
astigmatism. I'm wearing progressive-lens glasses.
As with all the glasses I've worn for more than the past 15 years (once
my eyesight worsened to a certain point), I don't feel I get crisp
difficulty of making small corrections for distance vision16 Oct 2006 15:45 GMT12
My vision has finally deteriorated to the point where I need glasses
for both near and distance.   My problems are minor compared to those
of many people; yet the experience so far has been frustrating.
I got prescription glasses for distance.  But distant objects (such as
Using a multipurpose solution as rewetting drops?16 Oct 2006 06:45 GMT2
I've been using Opti-Free's new Replenish solution to clean my lenses.
Occasionally my eyes get dry while wearing them, so I just put a few drops
of this solution directly into my eyes.  It does the job, but I'm wondering
if this is safe?
wrong introcular lens image disparity16 Oct 2006 06:25 GMT3
July of 2003 I had surgery on my right eye at the
Wilmer Eye Institute at John Hopkins to correct a
macular pucker.  This entailed a vitreectemy.  Post
surgery I had a fairly large black spot below and to
Experts in repair of botched intraocular lens implantation?15 Oct 2006 23:55 GMT1
My previous post was pretty long.  The short version
would be a simple question I quess.
Is there anyone in the U. S. who might be considered
to be an expert in repairing botched introcular lens
resolution of the human eye15 Oct 2006 22:10 GMT2
A patient of mine, a photography student, asked me a couple of questions
about the optical performance of the eye relative to digital
photography. I just happened to have the answer---thanks to this
well-referenced website.
RGP Insertion Tips Anyone?14 Oct 2006 21:20 GMT2
After 25 years of soft contacts I recently switched to RGPs due to keratoconus. I'm still in the so-called "adaptation period" and so far things seem to be going OK.
My big problem is getting these bad boys into my eyes. No matter how I try, the lenses are never centered right off ...
Acuity readings plus/minus a few letters.14 Oct 2006 18:35 GMT15
If one is having an Snellen test, and the reading comes out 20/100 minus
1, that means one letter has been lost in reading the 20/100 line.  Truth?
And how is that reading should be converted to 20/?  .  Where ? is a
singular number.  If so, how do we interpolate to the actual ...
Who makes -14 contacts?13 Oct 2006 23:15 GMT19
Just came from a visit to my opthamologist.  My vision in the left eye
is -14.75 and -2.5 (I think she said I had a slight astigmatism).  We are
looking at a minus 13 or 14 disposable or extended wear contact lens.  She
thinks they have to be specially ordered as most companies ...
