Volk lenses and UV.11 Sep 2006 00:27 GMT1
Do volk lenses block uv? I know that you can buy the yellow patient
comfort filter for a lot of the lenses which their website states
blocks all wavelengths shorter than 490nm but is the basic lens zero uv
transmission?
CRT monitor and contacts10 Sep 2006 19:46 GMT4
I recently (last Friday) got contact lenses for the first time, after
21 years of wearing glasses, for myopia.
I'm a computer consultant, which largely involves programming, so I'm
in front of a monitor for hours every day.
Ace -- as an OD, how would you deal with this situation?10 Sep 2006 15:30 GMT9
Dear Ace,
Charles has every right to expect very, very sharp vision
from a minus lens.
That is what ODs do.

PureVision Toric lenses10 Sep 2006 03:00 GMT4
My Rx is in the -7 range, with astigmatism in the -1 range. My previous
toric contacts over the past couple years were Frequency 55 (for one eye)
and Soflens 66 (for the other), but both lenses rotated out of place
frequently and I wasn't real pleased with them.
Best cleaning solution for hydrogel lenses?09 Sep 2006 05:11 GMT1
In reading previous posts, it seems that many believe that if you avoid the
"no rub" multipurpose solutions for cleaning soft hydrogel contact lenses,
and use a separate cleaner, it will clean the lenses better and you could
possibly prolong the life of your lenses. Do most of ...
After Retina surgery09 Sep 2006 04:38 GMT3
I had a macular hole which was diagnosed last August. Had a vitrectomy
and cataract surgery in January of this year. The bubble finally
disapeared in March but I now have a silvery, blurry blotch in my
central vision that has not gone away. Dr. says retina surgery was a
Decrease in sphere, increase in cylinder ---> what's the effect?09 Sep 2006 03:53 GMT5
I'm 30 yrs old; I had a recent eye exam and dilation ---> no problems
were found. I went to the optometrist because I'm having a slight
"contrast problem" with my right eye - very slight (but enough to cause
headaches). Basically it's a small sense of 'brightness' in my right

New Glasses or Bad Prescription09 Sep 2006 00:21 GMT2
I've been wearing contact lenses now for over 6 years and I have relied
on the pretty much exclusively. When I first got my contacts I also got
a new pair of glasses and no problems with either. Since then my
prescription has gone up twice (slightly). For my first upgrade I chose
coopervision vs. other lenses08 Sep 2006 22:43 GMT1
I was prescribed daily wear Coopervision lenses, I have about vision of
about 9 diopters and 11 diopters.  I am using a monovision prescription
also on them, for near vision.  Is there any reason I would not be able
to use some of the newer lenses like Accuvue?  If I can, would ...

Need help: distorted vision w/new glasses08 Sep 2006 00:05 GMT5
Hopefully, someone can help me with my situation.  I have a large(!!)
head, making it difficult to find frames that fit.  I finally found a
large tag heuer frame (link below) that fits, but when I got my
polycarbonate lenses, my vision was distorted.  My optician just
Glasses for 5 year-old twins?07 Sep 2006 21:17 GMT76
We have 5 year-old identical twins who will turn 6 next month.
The optometrist checked them 3 years ago and said they needed glasses,
but a second opinion from 2 child opthamologists said they could do
without glasses.
