the whole width of a sheet of music withou flicking my head from side
to side - not a good practice when playing a wind instrument.
Not being able to see the whole width without moving my head is

Perception of luminance levels30 Sep 2006 19:07 GMT1
I have an interest in photogryphy and would like to know if anyone
could help solving the following question: Is it true that the eye
distinguishes fewer luminance levels in the dark areas of a print due
to visual interference from the light areas than in the brighter ones
other related groups?29 Sep 2006 19:38 GMT2
Are there good mailing lists on the same topic as this newsgroup?
I have, of course, searched the web, but the only thing I turned up was
"the_eye_sight", a Yahoo group.  Other good sources?   This would be
most appreciated...

She says her glasses are so thick that everywhere she goes people point and
Takumi Equivalents?29 Sep 2006 15:07 GMT1
With my recent prescription change, I'm going through the always tortuous
process of selecting new lenses and frames.  It'll be single-vision with
good quality anti-reflective and anti-scratch, UV-resistant coatings
(Trivec, maybe?).

I think it's getting near the time for a near correction, but I'm a
particular kind of guy.  Would it be worth it (or even possible) to seek
out the Hoyalux ID's?
Update on floater attack28 Sep 2006 00:16 GMT2
I'm the guy who posted about the "major floater attack" about a month

Can distance to eye chart be compensated for by character size on Snellen Chart?26 Sep 2006 01:03 GMT3
The opthalmology clinic I visit has recently moved into new offices.  In the
old office refraction for prescribing eyeglasses was done at a distance of
(I assume)  20'.  This was accomplished with the usual
projector/screen/mirror system to achieve the desired eye-to-chart ...

I read somewhere that due to visual interference the eye distinguishes
fewer luminance levels in dark areas than in light areas and that by
those means the number of luminance levels the eye can distinguish
decreases gradually from light to dark zones. Now does anybody know if
Long-time contact wearer, suddenly presbyopia is a problem24 Sep 2006 18:22 GMT18
Hi! I have been wearing contact lenses since I was maybe 16. Hard lenses. For
