I need help, hope someone can help21 Aug 2006 20:44 GMT12
Have been told it is dry eye, but the drops don't work. Nov 2005 it
started, eyes were always red, but no pain. Then about Jan 2006 started
being very sensitive to the light, being on the computer or tv caused
severe eye pain. Had an eye exam, didn't need glasses, everything
plastic vs. glass21 Aug 2006 19:14 GMT14
My grandmother who is 82 has the belief that she must have glass for her
eyeglasses.  That plastic will be blurry and unclear. The problem is that she
only has vision in one eye and I am concerned that at 82 if she were to fall
or be in some sort of an accident that the glass could ...
Problems with pinhole glasses21 Aug 2006 06:23 GMT20
I've been experimenting with pinhole glasses for a while, but they
don't seem to work for me. (I can still return the glasses.) I'd like
to know if other users have had similar problems and if they did or did
not find a solution.
Calculating IOL power?21 Aug 2006 01:17 GMT1
How is the power of an IOL calculated?
Will my prescription be used as part of this calculation?
Is this done by a machine?
Is there a better method for someone with high myopia (-17)?
Red/green eye chart19 Aug 2006 16:04 GMT10
What is the red/green chart my eye doc has me looking at?  He wants to
know whether the letters are darker/clearer in the red half or the
green half.  I guess it has something to do with distance vs. near, but
I don't really understand how that works.
Differences in brands of progressive lenses?19 Aug 2006 15:16 GMT9
I am very astigmatic and when best corrected, come in at
something like 20/40 or 20/35.
For several years I've had progressive lenses which I carry
with me.  I use them for driving, walking around, museums,

uneven polarized sunglasses19 Aug 2006 07:09 GMT3
I recently purchased a new pair of perscription sunglasses with
polarized lenses.  (They weren't cheap ones, ether...)  The
polarization on the lenses seem very uneven to me.  If I look at a
clear blue sky, I can see that the lenses looks splotchy, as if the
Do lenscrafter and such use stock lenses?19 Aug 2006 06:52 GMT3
A friend of mine told me that there actually are stock lenses - lenses
that are already grinded for various prescriptions - out there and
that's why lenscrafter and the like can finish your glasses in an hour.
She added that those lenses were actually very cheap to get. Was she
P-IOL vs PRK, age 49 with dry eyes19 Aug 2006 06:39 GMT19
Went for an eval with a well-respected local surgeon, and as expected,
he said no Lasik for me with my dry eyes.  A friend just had PRK, and I
have to say that the long recovery time would probably make me very anxious.
I'm a 49 yr old female, used to wearing contacts with -6.00 ...
Cataract Surgery and Slight Heaviness in Head19 Aug 2006 00:41 GMT3
I had cataract surgery in my right eye 1 week ago and now the right side of
my head sometimes feel heavy. According to my surgeon, the surgery went well
and everything's looking good. Since my IOP is normal (16), he thinks that
the slight heaviness comes from my brain still not ...
Pachymetry as a part of routine comprehensive eye examinations19 Aug 2006 00:23 GMT19
I spoke with a couple of doctors today at an ocular pathology
symposium I would consider to be well-qualified on the subject of
glaucoma:

Floaters in eye?19 Aug 2006 00:16 GMT3

eye? These damn dots keep following me like a fly. Thanks.

Bellevue, WA. Can someone please tell me where I can get the addresses
Computer Vision system - optotype font18 Aug 2006 15:59 GMT16
I am a recently graduated ophthalmologist and I am trying to design a
system for checking vision on a computer.  There are several commercial
designs - but they are quite expensive - $2000.  I figured I could put
something together myself and have played around with powerpoint and I
