retinal haemmorrhage12 Jul 2006 21:19 GMT2
What are the signs and symptoms of a retinal haemorrhage?  Does it
clear later, with treatment, on its own or not at all?
I've recently been diagnosed with ITP, where the body thinks it's
clever to kill off its own platelets and the danger of retinal

I have BAD eyes.  Need a frame I can put prescription

Hyperopia plus amblyopia12 Jul 2006 14:48 GMT14
Finally, yesterday I took my daughter to the pediatric ophtalmologic
clinic. Very nice doctor, she took at least 30 minutes to explain
everything to me and my wife. I even did the tests myself to understand
completely.
Computer Monitors.12 Jul 2006 03:25 GMT18
Is it true that flat monitors are safer for the eyes than regular CRT
monitors? I do not notice any difference and I have used both.
Thanks

Plus lenses for myopia12 Jul 2006 02:31 GMT10
This question is for Otis Brown. My son's myopia prescription is -1.0
on the left and -1.5 on the right. If I want to try plus lenses on him
for book reading, what prescription should I go for ? +2.0 on both
eyes, or different prescription for the two eyes ?
Question About Adjusting Frames11 Jul 2006 23:32 GMT5
I got new glasses about six months ago but wear contacts almost every
single day now.  The glasses are way off of their true fit and every
person I go to to adjust them doesnt adjust them properly as I explain
to them.  Does anyone on this board know of a very good adjuster in the
Sun Gazing11 Jul 2006 11:48 GMT5
It sounds like it might work, but with so much snake oil flowing
through the markets from Enron to sidewalk deals on expensive watches,
I have to observe caveat emptor.
So, if it really does work, please point me in the direction of
Once again, my childhood optometrist is proven correct11 Jul 2006 06:05 GMT8
The man told me nearly 40 years ago that if I'd wear my spectacles
every day my eyes wouldn't get any worse and might even get better.
My spherical corrections are holding steady (three years, no change),
my astigmatism is a bit better (two years successive improvement).
Selecting lenses11 Jul 2006 00:51 GMT9
I would be grateful if anyone could offer some advice on selecting
single-vision lenses for a drilled rimless frame.

Albinism and reduction of high definition receptiors10 Jul 2006 13:57 GMT11
I've been told that in the eye of a person with albinism, there are fewer
rods to 'see' fine detail of an image.   So even if all the other eye
conditions were corrected, there would still be a problem seeing.
Does anyone know what % the reduction of Rods is as compared to a ...
Wrap-around sunglasses10 Jul 2006 06:20 GMT3
Do even well made wrap-around sunglasses create distortion due to the
curvature?  I got some quality (expensive) sunglasses recently, and it
feels almost like they are inducing prism.  It takes me a while to
adapt to them after being inside on the computer all day.  But it seems
Cystoid macular edema returns10 Jul 2006 06:14 GMT1
I had vitrectomy (OS) in May 2003. CME developed a few months after the
operation, and I treated it for a long time. Just last week, about 18
months after treatment was completely discontinued, the symptoms appeared
again. A few days' treatment with steroids was effective, however.
Otis is right! The plus lens improved his 20/40(-1) to 20/20+(-.25)10 Jul 2006 05:31 GMT19

He rejected the minus lens, choosing the second opinion and using the
plus lens instead to clear from 20/40 to 20/20! Had he worn that -1
lens, his eyes would get worse and worse and stronger minus lenses

Is Stigmatism Hereditary or something that you get as you stress your eye
through the years?
Thanks
