Are Acuvue Oasys better than 1-Day Disposables?23 Jun 2006 13:13 GMT1
The best clarity and comfort in a soft contact lens I ever had was with
the original Johnson & Johnson Acuvue 1-Day Disposables.  I was
thrilled with them.
As some of you may recall, J & J was sued in court because of their

Refractive lens exchange vs. LASIK post-cataract surgery23 Jun 2006 01:03 GMT3
I am a 54-year-old woman with symptoms of a cataract in my right eye,
resulting from a vitrectomy and epiretinal peel last January (which
restored my corrected vision to 20/15!)  Both eyes have moderate/severe
myopia with astigmatism (OS/OD -5.50 -1.50 x180 +2.00 add).  The
Wearing Eyeglasses With Contacts -- Farsighted -- What PLs to Get?22 Jun 2006 20:46 GMT4
Ok, last October I decide to start wearing prescription lenses because the
OTC reading-glasses shuffle was getting ridiculous. I am farsighted with
presbyopia. I wear contacts to correct my distance vision, but now I'm
thinking of also wearing prescription glasses over my contacts ...
PVD -> Retinal Detachment?22 Jun 2006 16:51 GMT3
Given PVD symptoms like peripheral flashes, how likely is it that you
won't get retinal detachment, and what are the signs that things are
settling down without detaching retina (only Posterior Vitreous
Detachment)?  This case involved someone with risk characteristics,
Will Orth-C replace Ortho-K -- for Ace22 Jun 2006 07:23 GMT63
Dear Ace,
For your interest, here is a new site where it is claimed
that you can "improve" your distant vision from -2 diopters -- and
perhaps more.
Problem with prescription sunglasses22 Jun 2006 00:25 GMT26
I got a pair of prescription sunglasses from Costco recently. This is
the first time I am wearing any prescription glasses. And I am having a
lot of trouble right away. I am shortsighted. I was wearing -1.25
glasses. I got a new prescription for these glasses and they
astigmatism in children21 Jun 2006 18:36 GMT4
I realize that myopia does not usually ever get better but I was wondering
about astigmatism. A friend of mine told me she was a +3.00 astigmatism when
she was about 5(also was myopic) and today she is only a +1..00. Is this
possible? My daughter is a +4.00 and a +2.00(astigmatism) ...
eye glass question: how does Y diopters map to 20/XXX21 Jun 2006 01:57 GMT9
If an eye requires a spherical correction of -4.00 diopters, what
distance does that map to (XXX) as compared to what a person with
perfect eyes can see at 20 feet?
For example, is it 20/200? 20/300?
Today's Times article on vision correction in Naval Acad.20 Jun 2006 19:32 GMT15
Today's NY Times is running an article on how the Acadamy is making vision
correction surgery available for free to middies.  One impact is that since
more people have good enough vision to enter flight school, they are having
a tougher time filling other slots.

progressive contacts19 Jun 2006 22:43 GMT27
Can someone tell me what progressive contact lenses are like?  What
sort of vision can you get from them?  Is it the same as glasses with
blur each side or are they pretty clear all across?
Also can they also be for astigmatism or is that asking too much?

the astigmatism induced  by a misplaced LRI which was done to OD
third follwow up 20/60 and -11 retinoscope19 Jun 2006 20:43 GMT2
Today was another follow up for my 3 year old daughter. She is doing well
and wearing the glasses well. In only 3 months her amblyopia went down from
20/60 to 20/40. Her perscription also did not get worse. I am hoping the
doctor is right about how she is so high now that she might ...
