Follow Up to Problem With Glasses25 May 2006 23:58 GMT1
I had another eye exam today.  The doc said the the rx from the old
doctor is correct however, I seem to be seeing more clearly out of my
old glasses.  He said that the new rx is not as strong as the old rx
and that the details w/not be as clear.  He did say that my old rx is
Potential optometry student25 May 2006 21:14 GMT43
I am considering becoming an optometrist, however I would first like to
know how laser eye surgery is projected to affect optometry in the next
10 to 30 years. Will it compete with optometry? Or augment it?
BLS.gov suggests that the optometry field with grow faster than
CooperVision-Hydron Biofinity25 May 2006 20:21 GMT6
Do any of the international (i.e. not Australian!) optometrists in this
group use this new silicone hydrogel? - it may be known by a different
name in other markets. It has a low modulus so might be a problem solver
for the biggest problem with first generation SiH's - CLPC.
Improving vision25 May 2006 04:49 GMT5
You may be surprised to learn that lasik surgery is now in its second
decade, and patients have more vision correction options than ever
before. The common issues are nearsightedness, farsightedness,

Recovery after retinal detachment surgery24 May 2006 20:10 GMT1
I had surgery for a retinal detachment 3 weeks ago. My procedure
involved laser photocoagulation of a retinal tear, placement of a
scleral buckle and insertion of an air bubble within the eye(for 1
week).  According to the RV surgeon, everything is looking great at
Conjuctivities - opticrom or fucilthalmic?23 May 2006 20:19 GMT2
Whats the difference with these?

Blood vessels breaking in eyes22 May 2006 23:02 GMT3
Last month i woke up and the blood vessels in my left eye had broken.
It took about a week for the eye to completely clear up. Then last week
the vessels in my right eye broke. Again, it took about a week for the
eye to clear up. Now both eyes are just glassy red, which might be ...
"Dry eye"??? medicine22 May 2006 18:34 GMT24
Well, the Dr. said I had it.  After a potion containing fluorescene,
he saw "black holes".  He mentioned a curative potion named "Endura".
I saw my old Walgreens eye drops contain polyvinyl alcohol and
"Povidone".  Walgreens' newer stuff contains dextran and "Hypromellose".

In Feb. 06 I went to have my eyes examined because age is making it
hard for me to see up close out of my glasses.  My glasses are for
distance.  I am 45 (well, ok almost 46) and have been wearing glasses
for distance since I was 23.  The eye exam showed that my distance

Can Anyone Tell Me What Is Wrong With My Eyes? Help!22 May 2006 08:02 GMT11
I’ve been having a problem with my eyes since January.  I have seen three
ophthalmologists, none of whom have a clue what is wrong with my eyes as all
their tests say everything is normal. Anyway, everyone here seems extremely
knowledgeable on the subject, and I welcome any ...
Big difference between contact / glasses prescription???22 May 2006 04:53 GMT8
I recently had my eyes checked and I am not sure that my prescription
is correct. The strength of the sph. reading is flipped for which eye
is stronger between the contact lens and glasses prescription.
I realize the prescriptions can be different, but I am not a huge fan

Is there a limit as to the thickness of the lenses in rimless glasses? In
other words, how thick can your rimless glasses be?
