Most comfortable soft lenses for high myope (-13.50)12 Apr 2006 23:19 GMT11
I recently switched from gas perm lenses to soft lenses and really like
my current lenses (CIBA Focus Monthly) with the exception that one of
my eyes tends to get dry and, in addition to reduced comfort, I notice
a change in my refraction of that eye.
Glass or Plastic12 Apr 2006 00:27 GMT7
I am extremely sensitive to visual distortions. My new eye doctor says to
use glass only - my previous doctor who just passed away said plastic is
better.
I tend to think of glass as the best medium for lenses....opinions please.
Sunglasses, tint, polycarb......and golf11 Apr 2006 21:42 GMT9
First off, a little about me.  Blind in right eye since birth.  Left
prescription is 0 +1.25 x 175 with a +2.5 add (always a PC lens).  Each
year the add has been increasing...but lately seems to have leveled off.
 I've had progressives for about 8 years now...when I first ...

Toric contact power increments11 Apr 2006 03:44 GMT20
I'm trying to get into some toric contacts, but I also want to keep my
current prescription without overcorrecting.  I'm looking for -0.5x180
and -1x180.  My eye doc said the minimum possible is -0.75, and just
surveying online stores it looks like they all go in 0.5 increments, so
A myopia hypothesis11 Apr 2006 02:59 GMT18
This post is guaranteed to make everyone go ballistic! It's about a
new hypothesis on the etiology of myopia.
First, a description of my methods. Anyone can speculate, or dream up a
new theory. I prefer to let the eye *tell me* how it works. I subject
Strabismus surgery. Am I a good candidate?10 Apr 2006 09:16 GMT8
I am 35 years old and have suffered from exotrophia since I was about
6.  Prior to that I esotrophic. I had 2 surgeries when I was a child on
both eyes in the mid 1970's. Dr Marshall Parks in Washington D.C. did
both. Not sure if each surgery was on one eye or if he did both eyes

Lomb will produce a toric division II type contact for the PureVision
brand?  I guess 6.0 is as high as they go.
Another quick question.  My prescription is -7.75od, +1.00 cyl, and 98

Anybody remember ol' Fred Deakins, USAF pilot?06 Apr 2006 16:49 GMT9
If you do a little digging, here's what you find out about Fred
Deakins.  There's some stream-of-consciousness type stuff here, but it
becomes rather obvious that either this IS Uncle Otie's "Fred Deakins"
-- who worked as a medic and--from what I can see--never flew a plane
When to dispose disposable lenses?06 Apr 2006 14:15 GMT6
After wearing contacts (bifocal) for many years, my doctor convinced me to
switch to disposable one.  They are fine, but I'm not sure when I need to
dispose of them.  The doctor said the FDA approved them for 14 days, but I
don't wear them every day and don't always wear them all ...
Large Font Search Engine06 Apr 2006 03:52 GMT1
I thought people might be interested in a new search engine my company
has created for people with low vision. It's called Big.com
(www.big.com) and it has a large font size that you can make even
bigger after doing a search by clicking on a magnification button.
