I read somewhere that it takes several days for one to get used to the
cylindar component of glasses. My glasses came in today
left eye: -4.5 sphere, -.75 cylindar(140 axis) correctable to 20/30
right eye: -3.5 sphere, -1.5 cylindar(55 axis) correctable to 20/40
Change in prescription??03 Mar 2006 22:52 GMT7
At my 2003 eye exam, my distance vision was -2.50 in each eye.
My distance vision at my exam last week was -2.25 in each eye.
Is a small variation like this normal? Can you distance vision  improve
or is this such a small change as to be insignificant?

I was working with my girlfriend for about half a year (Bates'Method ).
She has an odd problem (at least in my oppinion). She had glasses for
distance and for reading too (both minuses).

Hospital Appointment03 Mar 2006 20:24 GMT5
Well, I finally got my appointment through for the hospital appointment,
for what I can only pesume a full range of tests for this "fixation
disparity" that has been noticed.
If you remember, they've tried the red line through a white dot, where I
how much off for pd03 Mar 2006 19:41 GMT8
I just got new glasses 2 weeks ago.  The optician hand measured my PD
at 62.
Last week I found prescription sunglasses at another shop,  there the
optician used a marker on my glasses,  measured the marks,  and then
Question about my new contacts...03 Mar 2006 17:06 GMT3
Just recently I picked contacts back up (user of them back in '01 or
around then).  I had my eyes checked again and was given contacts to
wear.  Well, after a week of wearing them, I have had some problems.
Most notably is the increased pressure around my eyes.  It's hard to
I could use some brainstorming - when dry eye isn't03 Mar 2006 16:42 GMT10
As many of you know, I was using cycloplegia daily for about 6yrs to
control ciliary spasm.  Toward the end, I was using Atropine BID.
In 8/04, Dr. Melvin Rubin ("The Fine Art of Prescribing Glasses")
advised me that the preservative, Benzalkonium Chloride, was cytotoxic
Choice A.B. contacts03 Mar 2006 10:50 GMT1
How do these things work?  My wife got them and somehow they correct
astigmatism without knowing how much or what axis?
Suggestions for next eye doctor visit03 Mar 2006 04:14 GMT2
I'm at my wits end with the eye doctor.  That's why I've been asking
questions here and fooling around with reading glass diopters, and all
of that other foolishness.
I just noticed today that my new right trifocal lens is about 1/2"

Kong following concerns relating to the increase of a fungal eye infection

Singapore's health ministry said 22 people had been affected by the fungal
Mira-Flow AND Renu?02 Mar 2006 22:21 GMT2
I've used Renu/clones for quite a while with my Sunsoft toric softies.  A
friend just gave me a couple of bottles of Mira-Flow.  Would there be any
advantage in cleaning them with that every once in a while (following the
instructions, of course)?
corneal ulcer from high-permeability contacts?02 Mar 2006 22:20 GMT13
I've been wearing contacts for 11 years, and had a corneal ulcer a
number of years ago due to poor use in college (when a 'permanent' soft
lens was what they give you now as 2 week or 1-month disposables)
But for the past 4+ years, I've been wearing regular Bausch and Lomb
Acuvue Oasys contact lenses not working out.02 Mar 2006 22:07 GMT5
I got my new Oasys trial lenses yesterday. My OD said to wear the
lenses 8 hours a day and to see him in a week.  He said he needed to
check my eyes because the Oasys lenses only come in 8.4 base curve, and
I normally wear 8.7 (I used to wear 9.3, but went to 8.7 Acuvue 2's

Dear Second-Opinion friend,
