Headache18 Mar 2006 04:53 GMT13
I read somewhere that it isn't usual to get headaches with shortsighted ness.
I do. My prescription is a regular -2 and -2.5. Sometimes I get a blinding
headache behind one eye. Is this related to my shortsightedness? I get the
headache when I'm not wearing glasses.
2 totally different axis measurements for same eye?16 Mar 2006 23:53 GMT2
When they use the machine to determine the axis of the right eye, it
says 165 degrees axis.  But when they take me back to do the
subjective exam, the best results are at 40 degrees.
Is there some explanation for this?  If so, which would be the correct
Telescopes and low vision.16 Mar 2006 01:07 GMT14
If one is looking at a certain visual scene, say with a 7x binocular.  And
then one physically moves 7x closer.  The resulting image may not appear as
bright (or clear) when one is at a distance.  Why is this?

Troubling eye condition15 Mar 2006 11:36 GMT14
I have peripheral neuropathy (progressive, poly), type2 diabetes, and my
ability to focus changes continually throughout the day, depending on the
time of day, tiredness, ambient light, etc.
With my ongoing neurological problems, obviously, when I have an eye
Online contacts15 Mar 2006 01:01 GMT37
Why can't I buy contacts without an eye doc being in the loop?  I find
this annoying.  I have a fresh eyeglass prescription, and some contacts
I like in my old prescription.  Now I need to pay someone to say it's
okay to get the contacts in the right Rx.  Looks to me like the eye

Catarcts & Glaucoma Surgery14 Mar 2006 05:19 GMT5
My 83yr old mother has both cataracts and glaucoma. The fluid pressure
in her eyes ranges between 24 and 28. Her long standing specialist
recently suggested a laser operation to relieve the glaucoma.
She sought a second opinion and the recommendation was to do the
Polish plastic lenses14 Mar 2006 02:21 GMT13
Is there any way to polish the surface of plastic lenses?  They're
just slightly abraded, so even if they can't be machine polished,
maybe there is a liquid coating that would fill in the light
scratches?
GROUP QUESTION: Should sci.med.vision become a moderated forum??14 Mar 2006 02:13 GMT54
Hi, all.
First off, I'm not a vision professional. I came into this group
looking for advice on contact lenses a few months ago, and appreciate
the assistance I was given.
2 refractions = 2 measurements. Huh?14 Mar 2006 01:52 GMT11
I just received two refractions; the second to confirm the first. To my
surprise, the second picked up astigmatism, where the first didn't; the
basic correction was very close. My question is, what difference in
real world terms would I see by choosing one over the other? Is my
why do you make a big deal about undercorrection for myopia?14 Mar 2006 01:25 GMT33
Why is it so important to fully correct myopia if you have presbyopia
or accomodative dysfunction? Its common for people getting cateract
surgury to choose to be undercorrected for near or intermediate to the
tune of -1 diopters, -1.5 diopters, -2 diopters, sometimes even more! I

Toric Lenses Daily13 Mar 2006 16:18 GMT3
I am currently using the SL66 monthly disposals and because of my very
infrequent wears, I end up throwing it away after less than 5-10 wears!
How long can I keep the monthly lenses from my first wear, i.e. once I
open them?
