Is eyesight getting worse?21 Mar 2006 10:24 GMT19
Am I right in thinking that there are more people who wear glasses now than
ever before?  Why is it - are the  challenges of new technology and office
jobs making it worse or is it just that it's more acceptable now? I hear
stories of people who were wearing glasses in the days of ...
Astigmatism correction: is it necessary?21 Mar 2006 10:22 GMT6
I have new glasses after wearing contacts for 40 years. I'm not
entirely satisfied. Due to an unsteadying sensation from barrel
distortion, my feet and the floor seem a little further away than they
used to, leading me to feel a little tipsy. I guess the overall

I apologize for writing this long story, it's my first time in a web
group and I am hopeful that the more information I provide, the better
the advice you can give me.
My four years old boy was diagnosed with strabismus and amblyopia. He
Help me find a clinic to correct Detached Retina21 Mar 2006 05:44 GMT26
My local clinic (Portland, Oregon) wants to use old fashioned surgical
methods.
I'd prefer more modern gas bubble therapy.
Any suggestions on clinics in the Northwest which can handle more up to

Been to my GP21 Mar 2006 00:02 GMT12
He can't do anything until the notes from the consultant get back to
him. Whoo hoo. That'll be 2+ months.
The original opticians notes suggested apparently I had a decompensating
exophoria, which is exactly what the "consultant" said, except, she

My Ocular Rosacea treatment20 Mar 2006 09:30 GMT2
Hi, I just wanted to get the opinion of those here about my treatment,
because after about one month I have not noticed any improvement with my
eyes. In fact, my symptoms have been worse since starting treatment.
My treatment is as follows:

jagged line blocking vision19 Mar 2006 22:48 GMT6
I recently several strange occurances with my vision.   It is hard to
describe, but it is like a jagged line that seems to start in the edge and
moves towards the center over the course of an hour.  Its not a solid line,
but seems to blend with what ever I am looking at.    This ...

How large a zone can orthoK go up to? 7mm? larger?19 Mar 2006 19:50 GMT41
Due to my huge pupils, I will want the largest zone possible. I know
6mm is standard but theres also 5.5mm and 5mm as well as larger. I have
seen 7mm and heard of even larger! I googled it and orthoK is indeed
available in 7mm. Not sure if larger but 7mm is not bad as my pupil

Where do they put the cylinder correction?19 Mar 2006 01:05 GMT3
In this prescription for farsightedness:
Sph = +1.75, Cyl = +1.25, Axis = 174
How is the cylinder correction ground into the lens?
I.e., is it in the shape of an X at the proper axis?
Contacts make eyes *less* bloodshot?18 Mar 2006 18:34 GMT7
I'm currently wearing Proclears, and I tolerate them pretty well.  I've
noticed a curious thing...my eyes become more white when wearing the
lenses than without them, particularly at the beginning of the day.  It
seems like before I put them in, and after I take them out, my eyes
