resizing glass lenses18 Feb 2006 11:22 GMT2
I have a friend who has something like -17 glass lenses and she has
broken her frame.  Is it possible with glass lenses, to refit them
into a new smaller frame or would they break while trying to do that?
They were very expensive which is why she would like to reuse them.

My prescription is -2.75. My optician tells me I should wear glasses full
time with this prescription. I'm reluctant to. Is this commonplace?  Thanks

WOuld that be better than trying to wear one for 24 hours.
I could switch one pair to another and have like a 10 minute break.
Eye exam advice?17 Feb 2006 02:05 GMT7
I gave up trying to get a new trifocal prescription a few years ago
after not being able to see out of the new lenses from different eye
drs. So I just kept my old lenses. Now my lenses are cracked and
scratched so I'm forced to go through this again.
benefits of the highest index?16 Feb 2006 22:59 GMT4
I have a very strong prescription (-11 sphere), and ordering my first new
glasses in 5 years.  Am I really going to notice the thickness difference
between 1.6 and 1.7 index?  Is it worth the $ premium?  And what should I be
considering since these will also be my first ...

I had surgery just over two weeks ago, on just one eye. I'm male, early

confident of at least a cosmetic fix, which was my primary concern.  He
was highly recommnded to me by TWO eye doctors. I had double vision the

I had a retinal exam last year, and my eyes were fine. Several weeks
Prescription difference between eyes14 Feb 2006 01:22 GMT14
Is it common for people to have issues with large differentials in
prescription between the two eyes?  I've been having some difficulty,
and I wonder if it's possible that it's due to different cylinder
correction.  I only have a 0.5 difference (-1 vs -1.5) but the

The ishihara color blind test comes with 14, 24 or 32 plates.
If I was to buy a 32 Plate edition, would it be possible to know which
of the 32 plates are included in the 24 plate edition?
