question on contact lenses and olive oil11 Jan 2006 07:22 GMT9
I just had salad dressing splash a small amount on my eye while wearing
contacts.  Is the lense going to be ruined or will it just be washed
off when I clean them?
Any answers are welcome.  I love my contacts and can't affort to keep
Diopters to 20/something conversion. The math and science behind this!11 Jan 2006 07:04 GMT14
Hello everyone, post your dioptric pescription(how bad are your eyes),
your UCVA(uncorrected) and BSCVA(corrected by glasses) Also if you know
anyone's vision, post that too. I have done much research on the
correlation of diopters and 20/xxx and have compiled several charts,
the dead horse equation lives!11 Jan 2006 04:39 GMT1
I plucked this off an old dejanews archive(from sci.med.vision in the
mid 1990s, which feels remarkably like the s.m.v. of today!):
     log10 (VA) = -1.3534 (log10(-D)) - 0.5068,
where VA = decimal form of Snellen VA, D = myopia in dioptres
Need a new prescription11 Jan 2006 00:42 GMT15
Can eye doctors use an old prescription to prescribe a new one without
seeing the patient? An example: The last time you had your eyes
examined was two years ago and the doctor wrote you a prescription
which you had filled. You now decide you would like a second pair of
Future prescription10 Jan 2006 21:29 GMT12
My niece is 18 and hasjust been prescribed glasses for driving. Is it
possible to predict what her prescription might progress to? I am -5 and
started many years before her so does that mean that her final prescription
will be less than mine?
Fulltime correction10 Jan 2006 21:21 GMT60
What's the average prescription when people who are shortsighted wear them
fulltime?
Nearsighted but can't see to read10 Jan 2006 20:36 GMT10
My doctor told me that I'm nearsighted and need glasses to see far
away. Other than that, my eyes are fine/normal. However, I need my
glasses to read and use the computer. They're not reading or computer
glasses, they're for distance. OTC reading glasses don't help me see to
Corneal Abrasion10 Jan 2006 13:17 GMT3
Just joined this group and have been reading as many of the posts
regarding corneal abrasions. Thanks to you all for the contributions -
it is nice to feel that I am not alone. I have been to the eye and ear
hospital approximately 5 times over the last three months (for the
Myopia and exophthalmos10 Jan 2006 12:44 GMT4
Is increasing myopia associated with developing exophthalmos and/or
early Graves'?  I understand that the eye muscles are generally
responsible for pushing the eyeball(s) forward from the socket but I
can't figure out if this might increase myopia.
Regular and contact lens eye drops10 Jan 2006 00:47 GMT19
Regular and contact lens eye drops
What is the difference?
is there a difference besides price?
can i use just regular eye drops instead of contact lens eye drops?
Can I amend my doctor's prescription09 Jan 2006 20:54 GMT8
At my recent eye doctor visit it was discovered that my vision (I'm
slightly nearsighted) has actually been improving a bit, although it
seems more likely to me that I'm kind of between lens strengths. I was
at -1.00 in each eye for years, and then it was changed to -1.25 about

Thanks.

Prescribing philosophy09 Jan 2006 14:49 GMT14
I've got a question about how prescriptions are normally arrived at.
I've been doing vision therapy for a convergence issue and I've
observed a few things.  First, over the course of the therapy I have
"exercised" my eyes with lenses (only for ever a few seconds at a
