eyeglass frame aluminum21 Jan 2006 19:12 GMT5
repairing aluminum frames is simple-form and solder with a 25 watt iron
and transistor gauge solder.
but finding the aluminum is difficult-hardware store aluminum doesn't
solder as aluminum oxide film immediately coats the metal surface
Diabetes and Diopter Changes with Blood Sugar21 Jan 2006 10:31 GMT1
I'm a T2 diabetic and notice that my distance vision changes about a half
diopter with blood sugar changes.  What is the physiology behind this?  My
last dialated retinal exam shows normal.
TIA
Contacts & monovision21 Jan 2006 10:28 GMT19
A friend of mine is doing this - she is 43 and was finding it difficiult to
focus on reading matter. I wonder if I might try it in later life but have a
couple questions.
- how much would one of my eyes be undercorrected?
Is this normal at 48?21 Jan 2006 03:48 GMT3
I will be 49 this year. I do not wear glasses, however, I do have some
to read with. It seems like things close up are blurry and hard to
read, but distance things I have no problem with.
I bought some reading glasses at the pharmacy a couple of years ago
Specs for near work, astigmatism21 Jan 2006 03:41 GMT7
Here's an honest question for the professionals in the audience:
I've seen several posts lately in which I'm led to believe that as an
astigmatic myope I *must* keep my spectacles on my face as I will be
rendered inexplicably unable to read if I take them off.
myopia question21 Jan 2006 02:30 GMT54
My 8 yr old just had his first eye exam, after the school did their vision
screening.   Here is what they found:
R: -1.5  L: -.75
Based on some information I read on the web,  I challanged the OD with his

Chalazion Healing20 Jan 2006 18:02 GMT9
Had my Chalazion surgically drained 4 weeks ago. The Chalazion
dosen't have any fluid inside but is merely a bump, it is still red.
I've been advised by the doctor to stop using the antibiotic ointment
as I've been using it for a few months now. Whats the norm for
Switching eyes for monovision.20 Jan 2006 01:06 GMT8
I am a 42 y/o male with very mild myopia and a slight astigmatism in my
left eye. (Yet I can see well from 2 feet to 5 feet pretty clear
without correction).
My progressive lens eyeglass prescription is:
Contacts and their limitations on presbyopes20 Jan 2006 00:49 GMT2
As soon as I can unless you or someone proves that orthoK is nearly as
dangerous as laser surgury. From what I read, its nearly as safe as
regular daily wear contacts and 10x safer than overnight extend wear
contacts. In the meantime, I will be trying different brands of soft
loss of vision 19 Jan 2006 21:26 GMT6
I don't know if this is brain related or vision related. I have been having
this weird thing where all of a sudden on eye will get bright sparkles in
front of it and its very hard to see.  It is very similar to when you rub
your eyes real hard and then re open them and its hard to ...
acuity versus error in refraction19 Jan 2006 03:36 GMT13
To whom it concerns,
Wake up all nitwits, there is no excact conversion possible from diopters
into vision acuity
and vice versa, period.
Contact lens question18 Jan 2006 23:02 GMT8
I've been wearing contacts for 15 years or so to correct pretty severe
myopia.  I know I'm > -10 in each eye, probably more, but I don't have an
actual Rx.  I'm 45 and should be presbyopic, but I'm still "a few clicks"
from needing reading glasses.  I'm also a long time T2 ...
Glasses after CAT surgery18 Jan 2006 18:22 GMT1
I cannot remember, is there a time limit after CAT surgery for getting
glasses. I have a patient who had CAT surgery last Spring and I want to know
if she will still be eligible for eyeglasses. Does anyone else find the
DMERC Region A website hard to navigate? I wish they had a ...
Need help on vision or eyes?18 Jan 2006 13:03 GMT8
It looks like the whackos have messed up s.m.v. once again.
I'm sure it's only temporary, so I'll check back from time to time, but
for now, you can find some answers and I'm available for other questions at:
