To Jonsy123 about plus lenses...21 Aug 2005 14:03 GMT18
Hey Jonsy,
I have read your posts and sorry about what you are going through. How
old are you? Are you in a career field that you are required to have
20/20 vision or better? Military or civilian aviator, etc? If not, why
Is There Any Hope for My Dad's Eyes?21 Aug 2005 03:54 GMT14
My Dad has been told he has "incipient cataracts", and that lasik is too
risky at this point (he could go blind if they attempt lasik). His doctors
have said that they would feel more comfortable performing the lasik once
the cataracts have fully formed. (that sounds depressing!!)
Corneal Neovascularization21 Aug 2005 02:56 GMT6
I went to my contact lens specialist recently and in one eye I was told I
had the beginning symptoms of corneal neovascularization (new blood veins
growing into the cornea). I also see halos and "starbursts" around lights at
night. Should I stop wearing contact lenses ? And when ...

Is it possible to have surgury to give me widescreen vision?20 Aug 2005 17:38 GMT4
I am a big film buff and nothing annoys me more than missing
something which was on the screen in the cinema, yet was mysteriously
absent from the TV version.

Do optometrists use thick lens formulas?20 Aug 2005 01:41 GMT4
In all my readings here, I have tacitly assumed that optometrists always
used thin lens formulas without ever using thick lens formulas. Am I
mistaken?
I guess that in the days before ocular implants, the "coke bottle" lenses
Botched cataract surgery?19 Aug 2005 05:03 GMT4
My grandmother recently had a cataract removed. During the procedure,
the doctor completely cut out her capsule. The next day, he had to
relieve pressure that had been building up that had caused a horrific
Contacts thinner after three weeks of use?19 Aug 2005 05:01 GMT7
Do contact lenses become thinner after using them a few weeks? I have
been wearing a pair of Biomedics 55 for three weeks and they seem
notably thinner. Is this the typical evolution? Or is it only my own
appreciation?
Weird strabismus and severe farsighted19 Aug 2005 02:53 GMT12
I don't know if this is the right place to post. Anyway there it goes.
I'd always have, I think, problems eyes, but only when I've been adopted,
when I was almost seven I'd have  find out some of my problems.
My first glasses was  basicaly +12,00 -2,75 and +12,75 -2,00 with others
Macrolens Contact lens18 Aug 2005 17:43 GMT1
Does anyone have experience with the Macrolens from C & H. I recently
switched from RGP toric lens to the Macrolens because I wanted that
would be more stable in the eye and reduce the flaring I was getting
from my RGP'S. While I like the comfort and the lene not moving
'Starburst' like scratches on lenses17 Aug 2005 10:08 GMT4
Not strictly medical, but I noticed this group had posts about
spectacles/lenses.
Briefly - I have uniform starburst scratches on both lenses of my
glasses. The optician says they are scuff marks, I'm not convinced.
High index material technology?17 Aug 2005 08:37 GMT3
Optical glasses were once classified as light (crown) and dense (flint)
glass. The denser (mass per volume) glasses had higher indexes than the
light glasses. Except for some special formulations, expensive rare earth
glasses for example, it was difficult to get lighter lenses of ...
