Sodiium vapor light color.24 Jul 2005 18:47 GMT5
If one eye sees the color of a sodium vapor light (at night) as its normal
yellowish color and the other eye sees it as a brilliant white, what could
cause this difference?
 Thanks.
Prescription expiration dates24 Jul 2005 05:24 GMT1
This topic is just as much a pet peeve of mine as is the notion of a
"standard" recall interval.
The expiration date should be specified by the doctor on any Rx, unless
he/she wants it to run forever.
Strabismus acquired though monovision contacts23 Jul 2005 14:31 GMT26
I am a woman in my 50's who began wearing monovision contacts about 9
years ago.  I began experiencing occasional episodes of horizontal
diplopia during my 4th year of monovision under specific circumstances
(mostly night driving and watching movies in a theater).  The
test lens for telescope use22 Jul 2005 01:56 GMT4
I have a astigmatism developing in my eyes, -0.50 each eye.
I also use a telescope. I prefer to observe without my glasses on if
possible but this is getting to be a problem.
I do not have any test lenses to try, so I have to ask...
Where to get almost-flat polycarbonate bifocals?22 Jul 2005 01:35 GMT5
I'm looking for polycarbonate bifocals (+1.50 / +2.50) that have an
almost flat front surface. A slight curvature would be OK, but the
usual curvature is too large. My local shops say they don't have such
a thing. Is there a place to get something like this?
Switch from Acuvue to o2 Optix22 Jul 2005 00:01 GMT2
I had an interesting side effect immediately after switching from Acuvue
to o2 Optix contact lenses.
I have worn Acuvue for many years.  Back in January, I was given a
prescription for either Acuvue or o2 Optix, and told to give the new
optometrist regulatory body?21 Jul 2005 05:04 GMT18
Any advice on regulatory agencies in Canada/Quebec for optometrists?
I'm thinking along the lines of a complaint.
Thanks for any info.

How to avoid the "cat eyes" after lens replacement?20 Jul 2005 23:44 GMT2
My husband, his brother and sister all have cataract at an early age.  The
brother and sister had the lens replacement and now they can see much
better, mainly colors etc.
But the sister has the 'cat eyes' effect.  It is very obvious and you can
Serengeti or Maui Jim Drivers Sunglasses ???20 Jul 2005 02:17 GMT4
I have experiece with Serengeti "Drivers lens" sunglasses. I use them

problems.

Chart of standard contact Optical Zone sized19 Jul 2005 21:53 GMT5
Is the information available that shows the standard Optical Zone for
the available contact lenses on the market?  I'd like to do some of my
own investigating on solutions for my issue with contacts and my big
pupils.  I was content with Surevue, but they were bought by Acuvue
3 different Rx from 3 M.D.19 Jul 2005 15:09 GMT7
I just went to 3 M.Ds, and each one gave me a prescription. To the last
one, I said about the other 2 and he decided to dilate my pupil before
doing the exam (the other 2  I made with pupil not dilated). What is
the most acurate Rx, the last one? If you need the numbers, let me
Possibly I'm too picky19 Jul 2005 05:58 GMT1
Then again, they *are* my eyeballs.  As my son is wont to say after
he's inhaled two sandwiches, a banana and two glasses of milk and
demands more to eat:  But you aren't my stomach, how do you know how
it feels?
Canadian safety regs vs. US ANSI Z87 standards?19 Jul 2005 04:09 GMT1
I know there is at least one canadian o.d. on this list, but to whomever
might know, where can I find a comparison of the Canadian industrial
safety eyewear regs with the Z87 standards? I have run across a company
that wants to be sure its employees have safety eyewear that is up ...
The missing factor in studies about myopia is this...19 Jul 2005 03:38 GMT1
They say kids all read the same amount of time.  They analyze things
like computer time, Tv time, reading time, and they find no significant
results.  The only thing they find is that it's genetic, but not
always.  I think it's the house that one lives in.  Instead of
