RGB lighting and colorblindness28 Jul 2005 20:17 GMT2
Can anybody guess, would RGB lighting help a colorblind person?
For example, if a person were red-green colorblind, would lighting with
discrete RGB wavelengths help this person distinguish red from green
objects, compared to lighting with incandescent?
Scientific (Document) Change Requested -- Dr. Francis Young28 Jul 2005 16:30 GMT9
Dear Friends,
It is essential the scientific documents
scrupulously accurate -- otherwise the
incorrect inferences will be made.
Crizal AR coatings, etc.28 Jul 2005 14:57 GMT1
What is Crizal Alize, and how does it compare with the AR coatings
included with lenses like Seiko Super 16 or Hoya NuLux 1.70?
glasses, prescriptions, and depth of field27 Jul 2005 16:49 GMT16
I have used tri-focals for the past 2 years, but I don't normally read with
my glasses on.  I do need glasses to see the computer and for distance.  The
lines in the tri-focals drive me crazy, especially the reading lens which is
too low for me to see through.

Blepharitis and Chalazions - HELP!!!!27 Jul 2005 14:22 GMT1
I have blepharitis on my eyelids (and Seb Derm on my scalp and face).
The problem is, I keep developing chalazions in both my eyes, and these
always require surgery. I was told by multiple doctors that maintaining
eyelid hygiene is crucial. I understand this. This makes sense.
Science based opinion on Plus lenses to Prevent Myopia27 Jul 2005 04:42 GMT15
I have been making an effort to keep out of the Otis plus lens threads, but
here is some info about the credibility of the "experts" he quotes.
Otis posted a expert opinion about the validity of claims made by Steve
Leung, Otis's favourite OD on the i-see@yahoo groups forum.   Dr ...
Eye Prescription Repeatability26 Jul 2005 18:57 GMT7
I'm wondering about the repeatability of eye glass prescriptions over a
short time (say 8-12 weeks) and possible causes. As a case in point I
had the following results on the same eye (OS): #1: Pl +0.5 x 015,  #2:
Pl + none, #3: Pl + 0.25 x 180.
Science Based Opinion on the Dynamic Eye26 Jul 2005 18:36 GMT2
Dear Prevention Minded Friends,
Subject:  Claims by OD to their "Science" versus pure science and the
proven behavior of the primate eye -- and the human eye's
     behavior by implication.
cataract surgery on both eyes separated by one week26 Jul 2005 17:05 GMT48
I'm hoping you can help me figure out how things will work for me. I
will be having cataract surgery on both eyes with one week between. I
am quite nearsigted and have a lot of asigmatism. I currently wear
progressive lenses.
Optometrist's numbers (moving to europe...)26 Jul 2005 04:18 GMT7
I'm soon moving to Europe, and I have a question about my eyeglasses. I
didn't find any more appropriate newsgroup, so I hope you can help me.
My optometrist gave me a matrix which I cannot read, and since I need
to translate it in italian... I don't know where to start... This is ...
Should optometrists pay for their mistakes?26 Jul 2005 01:37 GMT20
It took two optometrists 6 prescriptions before my eye glasses vision
was good.  I had the expensive Definity lenses made up by an optician
not associated with either of these optometrists.  These two
optometrists made several mistakes including:
Tear Break-Up Time and flap question25 Jul 2005 18:32 GMT4
I had LASIK eight years ago which left me with severe night vision
problems.  I've tried several types of RGP lenses but cannot tolerate
any of them for more than two hours a day.  I have been told I have a
2-3 second tear break up time which is why I can't tolerate the lenses.
How long does an RX last?25 Jul 2005 12:54 GMT6
Went to my opthalmologist in the spring and she decided I needed to
think about getting progressive lenses.
So, the doctor gave me a new prescription. Pre-printed on all the
prescriptions is the phrase "Not valid after four months."
Acuvue Oasys - soon?25 Jul 2005 04:15 GMT45
Does anyone have any news on the Acuvue Oasys lense - timeframe on when
it will be available in the U.S.? Already available in Europe, I've
heard some good things about its wearability and comfort (low
coefficient of friction, etc). Has anyone done comparisons to
