| Any dry eyes with Acuvue Advance? | 16 Jun 2005 16:42 GMT | 20 |
My wife recently switched from Frequency 55 lenses to Acuvue Advance. The trial Advance lenses she used were very clear and lasted over two weeks. Upon ordering a batch of lenses she is now finding that after a couple of days the lenses feel coated with something and are scratchy

| Competent Opticians | 15 Jun 2005 15:42 GMT | 2 |
I am ABOC optician from Wisconsin, and I'm actively preparing for my advanced testing. I only work in one practice with only a handful of Doctors. I was curious to see, as OD's, what you think makes a good optician. I have learned more on the job and through personal research

| Question - Re-Hydrating lens that popped out at night | 15 Jun 2005 12:52 GMT | 15 |
Hi, all. I am wearing (I believe) Silicon HydroGels; they're night&day lenses, and I am satisfied with them overall. The only occasional issue is dryness at night. I try to offset that by using a drop of TheraTears before I turn in, and again in the morning.

| cooper-flex vs. frequency 55 | 15 Jun 2005 02:55 GMT | 1 |
I've been informed that cooper-flex and frequency 55 are the same lens marketed by cooper under 2 brands, the former being sold only to Kaiser Permanente. I have no problem with that except the base curves are nominally different, 8.6 in the former and 8.7 in the latter. To me

| Otis, what is your position on the Bates Method? | 14 Jun 2005 20:10 GMT | 14 |
Otis, what is your position on the Bates Method? The Bates Method is based on emotional problems and says they are to blame for the beginning of all eyesight problems. This very subjective. Your method is very objective, which says that the eyes

| mirror astigmatic axes | 14 Jun 2005 14:06 GMT | 19 |
Is there a tendency that the astigmatic axes of the left eye and the right eye are mirror images? I was wondering because they are in my eyes (right S-4.00 C-1.5 110°, left S-5.50 C-1.5 70°).

| Lasik / Dry-ish Eyes | 14 Jun 2005 05:07 GMT | 3 |
I had wavefront-guided LASIK about 8 months ago and sometimes my left eye goes blurred. I'm pretty sure it's just a bit of dry-eye. I take flax-seed oil and that helps somewhat.

| vitreous detachment and optic nerve damage | 13 Jun 2005 21:39 GMT | 8 |
When a vitreous detachment occurs and a Weiss ring floater appears, this is tissue that has been pulled away from the optic nerve head, correct? From what I have read, this event may occasionally be accompanied by optic disk hemorrhage. Would this ever cause damage to

| Flashing & blurring in vision | 13 Jun 2005 18:16 GMT | 7 |
I have it at the moment and it's hard to describe. I can see everything in focus, especially what I'm looking directly at & I can see colours normally but it's like flashing white & blurring around the periphery, almost like looking through water.

| Shut the hell up and give babies plus lenses | 13 Jun 2005 15:16 GMT | 62 |
I believe that this test has been proven; when they gave chicks 10 diopters of plus lenses to one group and 10 diopters of minus lenses to another group. Thus this plan cannot fail. Now all you need to do, Otis, is to make this federal law. As soon as the child is born, and

| This is what full correction practice has done to me, either that or genetics | 13 Jun 2005 13:57 GMT | 12 |
According to Lenscrafters, the horrible vision I have at the age of sixteen is genetic. According to Lenscrafters, it is natural to only be able to see four inches in front of my face without glasses. It was, for lack of a better term, my "crappy genetics". The genetic

| 2 contact lens questions | 13 Jun 2005 13:20 GMT | 6 |
1- Do both lenses have to be the same type? My wife has a toic lens to correct asigmatism in one eye, but why does she have a toric lens for the other eye? Are we getting screwed? 2- With soft disposible lenses is there really any risk to different BCs
