Faulty Spectacles - Repair or Refund?21 Mar 2005 22:21 GMT4
I have recently purchased some new prescription spectacles and soon after
collecting them noticed that there was "something not right" about them.  It
looks like the frame is slightly "squashed" on the left hand eye, and is
21mm from top to bottom (and slighly "creased") compared ...
directions for converging on prescription?21 Mar 2005 21:36 GMT2
Is there a web description of various procedures for converging
on a prescription somewhere?  ie. what sequence to use with
better-with-or-without questions.
I'm interested in trying a regular drill at various light levels to see what
Heat cleaning soft disposable lens21 Mar 2005 09:29 GMT4
I've read that many/most modern soft lens should not be placed in a
heat sterilisation unit, presumably because 100C will damage the
structure of the lens.
I placed an 'old' Acuvue Advance (2 week disposable, silicone hydrogel

Nature vs Nurture20 Mar 2005 21:43 GMT3
Refractive error is due to a mismatch between the dozen or so refractive
components of the eye and/or a failure of the emmetropization mechanism to
correct the error present at birth or that develops later in life.   Since
all human growth is controlled by genes and the proteins ...

Is this normal?19 Mar 2005 04:07 GMT1
My mom had cataract surgery on both eyes 4 weeks apart.  It's been
more than two months since the first surgery on the left eye and for
the most part, it's been a miserable experience.
She apparently experienced a tremendous amount of pain during the first
Correcting the vision with high numbers19 Mar 2005 04:01 GMT5
Hi,
My daughter is 6 years old. She was complaining about not able to
read small letters on board at school. We have taken her to a doctor
and he prescribed to her  lenses with +1.25, +1.5 power. As she was
Effexor and blurred vision: more details?19 Mar 2005 02:18 GMT3
I have suspected that large doses of effexor had contributed to blurry
vision, although the doctors said NO.  This evening I read on the
internet that blurred vision is indeed a side-effect.
How does this happen?
vitreous floaters simulator18 Mar 2005 05:56 GMT13
Dear people
I have had a PVD years ago and the damn floaters invaded my field of
vision, when this happened to me I began programming a floaters
simulator computer program to be able to show others what I see.

Computer glasses question17 Mar 2005 20:59 GMT18
Doctor said if my new PALs don't work too well for the computer (I'm at that
age!) I should get computer progressives with the top for mid-range and
bottom for reading.
Are these as 'critical' as progressives, or can I get good results from
Prism glasses for exotropia?17 Mar 2005 19:05 GMT7
My left eye has been exotropic, since my teens. It was never corrected
fully. I am also quite shortsighted with astigmatism. With my full
prescription, my eye normally focuses fine, but still wanders off when
tired. I'd like to know if wearing prism glasses would help the weak

Dear Friends,
Given all the "hoopla" about prevention, and specifically
Raphaelson's problem with "The Printer's Son", it would
