?? Acuity <-> Diopters Conversion ??13 Feb 2005 22:50 GMT15
I can find lots of web sites that tell me what 20/20,
20/60, 20/100 etc. mean.
I also find lots of sites that explain diopters (d = 1/f)
But how do I relate the two?

Now we have more interesting news from our correspondant.
This afternoon she tested her vision for the big Snellen chart indoors
and she read 3/40.
Then she practised as follows:
WHY? and Goodbye12 Feb 2005 17:20 GMT14
I just can't figure out which of you does more damage to this newsgroup;
the absurd zealots Otis, Rishi/Evaristo or those of you who reply to
their nonsense.
Are you having fun?  If you are, you do so at the expense of those who
Pseudomyopia12 Feb 2005 15:20 GMT49
Is there an easy way to tell between pseudomyopia and true myopia?
Could someone suffering from pseudomyopia develop true myopia upon wearing
lenses?
conjunctivitis, keratitis... snellen chart12 Feb 2005 03:55 GMT2
Now this is something.
A friend who was famous for his incredibly perfect sight was suffering
two months ago of a mild conjunctivitis in one eye.
She has a wife who is very nearsighted and had to renounce the use of
Broken Metal Frames11 Feb 2005 21:25 GMT4
My 2.5 year old (bifocal) metal frames broke the other day. It
was time for an exam anyway, so I got one and my prescription
had changed slightly. The optometrist place said the frames
were unfixable and they could not order that model anymore but

Discussion about clearing eye-length and pseudo myopia10 Feb 2005 21:15 GMT9
Dear Friends,
Mike (on his own) determined to quit the minus lens
cold-turkey at Easter.  (His decision -- not mine.)
He researched "Bates" and many other issues.
Prism 10 Feb 2005 17:59 GMT1
I have just added 5D of base out prism to my current rx of +2.5 with +3.25 progressive. I am 48 year old and have no problems wearing this combination for the last 3 months but i have heard that long term wearing of prism may cause damage.  Is there any truth in what i have been ...
Perfect Sight a matter of spontaneous understanding09 Feb 2005 21:13 GMT21
Please, note that Perfect Sight has nothing to do with PLUS LENSES or
any other type of lenses usage.
The theory which our friend Otis - an old man who wears thick glasses
and does not comprehend at all what normal vision is - so strongly
Perfect Sight a matter of spontaneous undestanding09 Feb 2005 09:35 GMT54
Now I am talking with a lady, 60 years old, who knew nothing about
Bates treatments, and once I discovered that she wore contacts for
myopic condiitons, I asked her to trash them, a thing she did quickly.
Then she reported to me that in summer at seaside, without glasses, she
blurred central vision at night09 Feb 2005 08:14 GMT2
A little background:  I am near-sighted with a pretty bad case of
astigmatism.  I've been wearing corrective lenses since I was 6 years
old.  I am 32 now.  I see my eye doctor every 12-15 months.  My problem
is that for some time now (a few years at least), I've had problems
seeing double 09 Feb 2005 08:04 GMT8
What malfunctions in the eye that causes  one to see double for
instance seeing two people walking where there is really only  one.
Dominant eye alternation09 Feb 2005 01:26 GMT19
I have mismatched eyes nowadays and see mostly with one eye (R) for
distance then switching to the L for closeup. I don't seem to have a
dominant eye anymore. The swap is imperceptible by me. Things are in focus
at two points, using either eye. Naturally my 3D perception is limited.
