Got My New Glasses18 Jan 2005 11:03 GMT2
Picked up my new progressives yesterday, Varilux Comforts in a set of Oga
half-rim frames. Pretty good right out of the box. They might be set just
a mm or so high, but I'm going to try and get used to that before going
back. Not all that bad, really. I had the optician grind the ...
Difference between Varilux Liberty and Panamic?18 Jan 2005 02:19 GMT10
I've worn eyeglasses (with GLASS lens) for over 40 years, 6 with
bifocals.
My optometrist tried to talk me into PALs in 1998, 2000 and in 2002.
I declined.
Otis Brown Log: 16 January18 Jan 2005 00:29 GMT2
Another slow day for Otis Brown this day featuring only 3 posts, all to
himself or at least an effort to move out of his corner. There was
concern yesterday that perhaps he's been ill. Certainly he is not too
ill to type.
Eye Prescription Change17 Jan 2005 17:52 GMT1
I had macular hole surgery in June which included membrane peel and
replacement of lens  in Right Eye.
Last week I went to see my Ophthalmologist about distortion in the Left eye.
He tested both eyes and said that my vision in the Right eye was slightly
Curious about steps involved in a routine distance refration17 Jan 2005 13:24 GMT1
I have a basic understanding of myopic spherical and cylinder
correction.  I am curious as to the algorithm used by the optometrist or
opthalmologist ( which is better, "1" or "2") for converging on the
proper prescription.  Is the best spherical only correction determined

In a remarkable turn of events, there were no, zero, ziltch, nada, posts
today from the poster of unprovable, unsupportable BS.
Let's all hope that he has finally understood that this forum is for the
discussion the science and medicine of vision and the vision system and
RGP contacts & symptoms17 Jan 2005 00:34 GMT3
Just got a new pair of RGP boston contacts two weeks ago and I am
wondering if the symptoms I'm experiencing is normal. So far I have
gone past the blinking and it's much more confortable then the
beginning. But I'm still experiencing problems with lights. During the

My daughter's first-born suffered some sort of 'event' during (breech)
birth and now has Cerebral Palsy.
He is now 18 months old and his development is well behind the norm but

Getting first glasses - Need Help Picking Frame/Lens16 Jan 2005 04:31 GMT6
I just had an eye exam this past weekend and will be needing glasses. I
narrowed it down to 3 frames - Oakley, Kenneth Cole, and Silhouette. I
forgot to write down the first 2 model numbers but have the Silhouette
I saw and tried on is on top of my list. It's the Silhouette M7402.

Amazing stuff.  I had wavefront (custom) lasik done yesterday morning,
and today I went in for my post-op followup and am already seeing

Atropine and Myopia15 Jan 2005 16:42 GMT3
It seems from a preliminary study done in Singapore on young children that
Atropine is able to slow Myopia progression significantly, and in some cases
even reverse Myopia.
Do you think it can be used on adults to reverse existing Myopia?
The Ususal "What's Best?" Question15 Jan 2005 15:47 GMT3
I discovered this group as I was doing some on-line research this afternoon.
If you all can stand it, here's another question as to what might be the
best lenses for a new pair of glasses.
I'm 49 years old and have worn glasses since I was 18 months old. <gotta
Otis Brown Log, 14 Jan15 Jan 2005 11:54 GMT2
It was a slow day for old Otis today, with only 3 posts appearing on
this server of 33 total. Sadly, Rishi made up the difference with 4
posts of his own BS.
Today, Otis Brown and his ridiculous, unsupportable, unprovable (of
