RGP lenses after LASIK question.10 Mar 2004 13:57 GMT3
My Doctor told me he didn't think RGP lenses would work for me.  He
said I have 4 diopters of HOA (spherical I think).  There's also some
Coma and other HOAs.
My question is why wouldn't an RGP or macrolens work for me?
Newbie contacts questions, bc, dia etc10 Mar 2004 13:55 GMT1
First my background: 36 y.o. been wearing glasses since I was 18,
current pwr approx -1.5 - 0.5 in 90 degrees.
Tried lenses for 1 week for free 6-7 years ago. Did not work
nearly as good as glases.
Longshot to find Maker of great pair of glasses09 Mar 2004 16:31 GMT2
Recently, I have had the misfortune of losing the best pair of glasses I
ever had. I purchased them directly from my ophamologist, who sent them away
to "the lab" to get them made. I had those glasses for over a year, and they
never scratched, the frames were exactly the right ...
What should my major be? (Sorry if this is the second post - first time posting)09 Mar 2004 06:49 GMT3
After taking a trip to Trinidad and proscribing glasses through the
Focometer, I became interested in pursuing a Doctor of Optometry.
Although I'm currently freshman with a declared major in Civil
Engineering I plan to change my major next fall, but I don't know
Disappointed in Acuvue Advance lenses08 Mar 2004 14:32 GMT3
I have recently switched from B&L Optima FW to Acuvue Advance contact
lenses which my optometrist recommended after I complained about my
dry eyes.  So far I am very disappointed in the comfort level provided
by Acuvue Advance due to its rapid accumulation of deposits.
Soft Multifocals?08 Mar 2004 01:00 GMT5
Which of the multifocal soft lens designs have readers here had the best
success with, both as practitioners and as patients?
I guess there are not yet any silicon hydrogel multifocal designs. (Anyone
have an approximate idea when silicon hydrogel multifocal lenses might be on
Just had LASIK - how long to stabilize vision?07 Mar 2004 16:31 GMT2
My LASIK doctor with very good credentials(and who I trust) just
performed LASIK using VISX laser on 3/3/04.  My presecription was -7.5
, -7.75 on L and R eyes.  I had negligable astigmatism.
On followup next day(3/4/04) he discovered I had bloodshot eye(R)
from Hard to Soft....06 Mar 2004 23:23 GMT3
I've been wearing hard RGP for the past 20 yrs. Although
a bit uncomfortable especially in windy places, I prefer it
because they say it can stop my myopia from getting worse.
Like the lens can stop the eyeball from deforming further.
Reuse of Cataract Lens06 Mar 2004 00:55 GMT3
I was wondering if lens for cataracts are removed from deceased individuals,
and are used again.
Thanks

Please HELP - CRAO  - Central Retinal Artery Occlusion06 Mar 2004 00:45 GMT8
After having eaten a big quantity of Cayenna Pepper I've had an

right retina.
Myopia and reading glasses05 Mar 2004 18:28 GMT6
I have been myopic (around 4.5 diopters correction) for a long time.
Recently I began to suffer from presbyopia which I understand is
very common at my age (early 40's). I have a Phd in physics and
spend a great deal of time on a computer or doing close work of
Eyeglass prescription (and other) questions05 Mar 2004 05:23 GMT22
Sorry   for   the   somewhat  long  post,  but  I've  recently  seen  an
ophthalmologist for the first time in over twenty years and I have  some
questions.  advaTHANKSnce to those who can help me to understand.
Back  in  July  I  saw  an ophthalmologist at a clinic.  I was ...
Do RGP contacts work for all cases after LASIK?05 Mar 2004 02:27 GMT1
My doctor told me that he didn't think RGP lenses would work in my
20/16 (or 20/12) eye.  I've had an Alcon wavefront and an Interwave
test that showed aberrations in my cornea from LASIK.  I've heard they
work unless you're contact lens intolerant, but he did want to try

Our 3 year old daughter was recently diagnosed with

Why isn't Wavefront technology used to make the perfect perscription lenses?05 Mar 2004 01:05 GMT6
Maybe I am missing something here in my reasearch on Lasik/Wavefront.
Why isn't this technology used to create the perfect perscription
lens?  I for one have never had a perfect perscription.  Forget Lasik,
I can't even get glasses or contacts that work "really" well.  If I
