OLDEST CONTACT LENS WEARER11 Feb 2004 03:41 GMT6
JUST OUT OF CURIOSITY...WHO ON THIS NEWSGROUP IS THE OLDEST CONTACT LENS
WEARER, AND HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN WEARING THEM?  I AM 54 YEAR OF AGE AND
BEEN WEARING CONTACT FOR 3 YEARS.
Sore eyes when wearing contacts only once a week.11 Feb 2004 02:42 GMT10
I only wear my contacts one day a week, for four to eight hours.  The
next morning when I wake up, my eyes are a little tender, not bad, but
noticable.  Is this normal, and something that I'd get used to if I
wore them every day, or something to be worried about?
Amsler grid self-test questions10 Feb 2004 21:46 GMT1
When you're told to focus on the center dot and not let your eyes drift, is
it normal to feel your eye noticably readjust to the image every few
seconds?  I know the eye may make minute adjustments to hold focus, but this
seems more marked, almost like the eye has drifted off and ...
Accommodative Spasm and Presbyopia10 Feb 2004 19:22 GMT15
I have heard more about patients with accommodative excess/ciliary
spasm/pseudomyopia on this NG than I have found anywhere else.  I'm
working with a couple of ophthalmologists who are proposing that I
undergo two surgeries: 1) wavefront LASIK, and 2) a clear lensectomy,
Contact lenses pulled a Houdini!10 Feb 2004 05:32 GMT15
I'm new to contact lenses (J&J 1-Day Acuvues) and use them mostly for
sports when glasses get in the way. The other day something strange
happened:
I was putting on a fresh pair in the morning to go for a run... the
grey spots/floaters?10 Feb 2004 05:25 GMT1
Are these grey spots/floaters common in people?  About a week ago I noticed
a tiny light grey spot in my left eye, only really visible if im looking at
something bright like a white computer screen or blue sky even - and then it
seems to come and go, it's not always obvious.
J&J Definity/wide angle progressives?09 Feb 2004 23:04 GMT8
Anybody care to comment on all the claims being made by J&J on their new
Definity brand of progressives?  In particular, how do they compare to other
brands with a reputation for wide viewing angle (for instance, I have the
Rodenstock Life2 progressive which offered a world of ...
STILL can't get glasses to work!  Any advice?09 Feb 2004 22:43 GMT5
You people here who are in this business, please give me some advice.
I really have nobody to turn to.  I know nothing about this field, so
let me just post what I know.
About a month ago, I posted an article here describing a problem my
Jogging and Floaters?09 Feb 2004 00:26 GMT2
Is it okay to jog if you have a significant amount of floaters in both eyes?
I am wondering if the pounding of pavement is detrimental and may cause more
floaters?
Thanks in advance!

Contacts Base Curve inquiries08 Feb 2004 17:08 GMT1
Is there a device that can determine in precise value the unknown
base curve of gas permeable contact lens?
How do they manufacture gas permeable contact lens in the laboratory?
Do they get a blank and then grind the required base curve, diameter
Proposed Agenda for a Prevention Effort07 Feb 2004 20:13 GMT10
Dear Friends,
Some ODs have suggested the we engineers conduct a
study to show that a difference in refractive status
be demonstrated between two groups of pilots.
Re: Discussion on why prevention can not be offered: Correction07 Feb 2004 19:46 GMT10
Excuse me...my previous posting should read:
I've got some news for you, Otis. Many ODs DO believe in undercorrection of
both minus for myopes AND plus for hyperopes, as they believe FULL
CORRECTION makes the accommodative mechanism of the eye rather lazy.
Lazy Eye07 Feb 2004 12:02 GMT2
I just found out that my son has a lazy eye. He is 20/30 in his right
and 20/80 in his left. The doctor said that there is no treatment for
him since he is eleven years old. I'm just sick about this. I feel so
bad for my son. I am wondering if anyone has heard of a treatment that
Glasses fitting: vertical measurement?07 Feb 2004 08:07 GMT4
I would appreciate your thoughts on the following.
From reading various articles in this newsgroup, it seems like a good
idea to have the optometrist/optician measure my PD and how far
vertically from the center of the frames my pupils are before putting
