Eye health and video games22 Jan 2004 22:16 GMT2
I'm a writer for a UK video games magazine and I was wondering whether
I could get some expert opinions on a newly announced Nintendo
handheld games console? Basically, it'll be the first gaming device to
feature dual 3" screens. Do you think there will be any eye health
More on moire effects in vision22 Jan 2004 20:23 GMT3
It looks like we are finally zeroing on on the multiple image phenomenon.
That still leaves open the moire like effects for myopes looking without
glasses on complicated objects. I hypothesized that moire interference
between a real image and eye structure (floaters) produced these ...
Cloudy vision and halos?22 Jan 2004 20:08 GMT8
I am 48 years old and about 4 years ago started occasionally seeing
halos with some cloudiness (more noticeable in my right eye which has
amblyopia). My opthalmmologist checked me thoroughly for glaucoma and
also could not detect any corneal problems. She said everything looked
Is this person hyperopic?22 Jan 2004 19:47 GMT18
This is a question for the Docs here. "Stacee" posted this on another
bulletin board, addressing me. She got a lot of responses, all of them
(lay people, not vision professionals ) disagreeing with me and saying
that she is a low hyperope. Is there any possibility that she is
Multiple images again22 Jan 2004 19:24 GMT22
Before undergoing cateract surgery, I was seeing multiple images. I would
see at least half a dozen images of a traffic light. At night or when it was
dark and my pupil became larger, the effect was more pronounced. I also
reported what appeared to be a moire pattern from ...

Botox for the eyes?21 Jan 2004 21:22 GMT2
I was wondering if there have been any studies regarding substances that
could be applied to the cornea to cause it to relax or tighten in the
localized area either permanently or for a long duration?  Could such
substances (if they exist) be used to treat astigmatism?

Disposable lense question21 Jan 2004 02:41 GMT4
I wear coopervision frequency lenses.  I've been having a truly bizarre problem.
I'll be able to see fine using the contacts out of one box of lenses, but
when I try contacts out of another box of the exact same lense everything
is blurry.  The lenses are -6.5 and a base curve of 8 ...

strange eye feeling20 Jan 2004 09:13 GMT25
After wearing soft contacts (Acuvue 2) for 4 months without problems I
developed some kind of strange feeling - it probably isnt a dry eye
(that is what my opthalmologist said), but when there is a low
humidity of the air (sunny days) I feel burning in my eyes and as if

An opthomologist opined that my 81 year old victim's cataracts were caused as a
direct result of trauma he experienced in October, as a victim of punching and

I am planning to purchase a pair of progressive and single vision glasses, the SV are for driving and watching TV. I was told that the lenses on both glasses should be mad by the same manufacture and from the same material, is this truth ?
