Some Masking Noise Suggestions28 Apr 2007 04:31 GMT3
I have severe  Tinnitus which--for some reason--is frequently most
severe when sitting at the computer. My T consists of a single tone or
"whistle" at around 11,000 cycles, just below the upper limit of my
hearing.  It varies between being binaural and centrally perceived.

Has anyone had success with vinpocetine. I see that it is now available in
vitamin stores.

help with ear noise27 Apr 2007 04:15 GMT3
Sometimes when I lie down to sleep, I have an 'ear drum spasm'.  The
best way I can describe it
is of popcorn popping underneath a blanket.  It  isn't
too loud, but it definitely has a slight physical sensation that
neck massage26 Apr 2007 19:45 GMT33
After reading a few suggestion on here, I went for a massage,
explaining the situation to the masseuse, who really did seem to know
about the subject.  Anyway, and this might be a cause for some
optimism, it has actually got louder.  Why I say optimism, is that at
Stand on your head for T25 Apr 2007 02:53 GMT19
Interesting thing I just noticed.  When I stand on my head, my T gets
a little worse.  Then when I stand up normally, I hear what sounds
like sand falling.  This doesn't last very long though.  Or maybe I'm
just losing my mind.....:)
Using Sound to Supress Tinnitus24 Apr 2007 06:35 GMT6
I read this article about using sound to supress tinnitus.   They had very
good results based on 1 patient.  They also let you download the sound file
that they used.   I tried it and I think that it worked pretty well for
me -- much better than white noise.  Here's the link:

OK, I gave melatonin a chance18 Apr 2007 10:01 GMT1
Just like in the cited studies, I gave melatonin a 30 day trial.
I don't generally have sleep troubles so I was not particularly
optimistic going in that it would help, but optimistic enough
to give it a full 30 day trial with an open mind.
Infusion Treatment for Tinnitus17 Apr 2007 08:54 GMT1
Infusion treatment for tinnitus is very popular in China, according to
what I have seen, and in Europe, according to what I have read, but
does not seem to have been mentioned here in AST by the American
doctors.  In places like Hong Kong and Vancouver, the ENT doctors I

Can you adjust the "T" volume ?13 Apr 2007 21:14 GMT2
Can anybody here modify the volume of your tinnitus by turning your
head, biting down hard, or tensing up your upper front neck muscles as
if somebody was choking you ?????
Im just curious because the only place i saw these symptoms described
advice needed re my tinnitus13 Apr 2007 21:08 GMT11
I'd be very grateful for any opinions anyone here can give me about my
problem.
I've always been fanatically careful about my hearing, never going to
discos, never listening to loud music, and even covering my ears if I
Why don't most doctors know how to treat tinnitus?11 Apr 2007 06:51 GMT2
In my view, most doctors don't know how to treat tinnitus.  This is my
observation not just from my own personal experiences with doctors but
also from the lamentings and disgruntlings expressed by the T patients
living in advanced countries like the US of A.  It does seem to
Help Please10 Apr 2007 06:59 GMT8
I have this horrible buzz on the left side of my head for the last
7months. CatScan and MRI are negative. While walking or even chewing
there is an additional high pitch bell-like sound coming from the same
area. ENT said its Tinnitus and there's nothing he do for it. The last
