Hyperbaric Oxygen does not always work17 Jul 2005 23:21 GMT1
I had 3 hyperbaric oxygen sessions on my 5th week with tinnitus, and
had to stop it because it made it worse (actually doubled it). So, if
your tinnitus is old and you wish you had hyperbaric oxygen while it
was still young, just don't. It might have made it worse than it is
nerves17 Jul 2005 23:18 GMT4
I have been reading up on tinnitus, and thinking about my own case.
It seems to me  that the origin of the ringing is nervous, having to do
with the nervous system, I mean.
I have never studied the nervous system, but I understand that nerves
Brian-K has the best advice for the unsuccessful habituators.15 Jul 2005 18:58 GMT9
Brian-K once wrote:"It's also a good way of determining if maybe
something unchecked is wrong if they can't achieve habituation, such as
a pinched nerve for instance."
Those who have failed to habituate should take Brian-K's advice
Can tinnitus appear suddenly?14 Jul 2005 21:46 GMT9
I have had an outburst of tinnitus in the last 20 days, the last few
being noticeably dramatic.
My backround is that I spent years wearing headphones for music related
reasons, and have had short bursts of tinnitus that never created real
Two years, continued11 Jul 2005 21:20 GMT5
The replies to my "Two year" post a couple of days ago were really
fabulous, a big howdy to you all. If you're new to this group and
you've never come across these names, they're some of the most caring
people you'll ever have to privilege to meet. The huge thing about it
Tinnitus concerns09 Jul 2005 21:18 GMT4
My T is really been aggravated lately.  First, I played a gig with my
band and even though I wore plugs, I now have a new and louder T level.
Now I have to deal with all the tractors/trucks right next to my house
digging up for sewers and new housing developments.  It's very loud

Neti Pot05 Jul 2005 23:09 GMT2
I've been using a Neti Pot for the past couple of weeks (it helps clean
out sinuses) and it seems to have reduced my tinnitus.  Anyone else
tried one?

Two years05 Jul 2005 20:03 GMT26
I had been quite active on this newsgroup for a number of years, ran a
support group and all kinds of tinnitus related activities. Things got
kinda too much and two years ago this month I dropped out of sight,
totally disconnected myself from the wild and wonderful world of tee.
Night Guard ...04 Jul 2005 21:10 GMT10
is a device that's supposed to keep people from grinding their teeth when
they sleep.
Since there seems that there might be a connection between T and tension and
jaw motions, I'm tempted to do the experiment.

Day 5 on cipro, woke up with my ears screaming!  Stopped immediately.
Ironic, it came out of the blue.  The last two days were really
good....  I just found out cipro is made of quinine.  I can't believe
this is on no ototoxic lists!!!
Niacin01 Jul 2005 02:51 GMT16
After a lifetime of faint tinnitus, mine got very loud in my right ear about
a month ago and has been driving me nuts. I've been trying various remedies
including fish oil, alpha lipoic acid, zinc and a Vitamin B stress tab.
Yesterday mid-morning I decided to try extra niacin ...
