Stem Cell Research29 Apr 2005 22:44 GMT1
There was a tiny press release that I think is earth shaking.
In Australia they put stem cells into dogs' eyes who were born blind.
The dogs gained eyesight.
I can't understand why this isn't the biggest news item, bigger than the

stapedotomy, stapedectomy -- what is the difference?  [also need doctor/procedure recommendations]29 Apr 2005 17:58 GMT1
Hi, my dad has had severe hearing loss in both ears for a long time.
He is unable to afford an operation and I want to help him.  A few
years ago he was recommended to have stapes surgery to restore hearing
after having his ears checked.  I don't know much about that, but I've

A tinnitus "specialist" I went too suggested that Ginkgo Bilboa might
help. Anyone know if this is bs or why it may help? I would like some
hope---but I dont want to fool myself. On a previous I mentioned my

The T intermittency seems to have been broken27 Apr 2005 19:06 GMT13
Ever since I used the following simple device, my t intermittency seems
to have been broken.  Now, if i could resist napping, i would
oftentimes end up with a complete quiet week.

Why is napping so bad for tinnitus?24 Apr 2005 22:24 GMT10
I sometimes enjoy a few days of silence and then all of a sudden I nap
and the t comes back for a few days to bother me.
What is the 'scientific' reason behind napping being so bad for
tinnitus?
It helps!13 Apr 2005 22:27 GMT3
After using it for about a month, my t has obviously improved a lot.
Try it!  Nothing to lose except a few dollars.

OT: Calling all trolls07 Apr 2005 23:08 GMT1
Yoli, Blue, Stevie, Kaufman, where for art thou?  Man this is a boring
a.s NG without all the old trolls.
How can anybody find enough to talk about tinnitus to even keep this NG
alive?  I have had it for about 3 years and the best thing I ever did
What are the limitations of a double-blind study?07 Apr 2005 14:24 GMT9

Loud ringing getting louder as I age06 Apr 2005 20:59 GMT2
I have noticed that as I grow older my T seems to get louder and
louder.
It really is not that loud yet but I fear that as I grow old I will
lose my hearing completly and just hear the ringing.
Tinnitus ill and positive thinking06 Apr 2005 18:41 GMT12
A T patient should think positively, which means the suggestion that
you have to live with your T should be discarded strongly and doctors
that produce that advice should be reported to the responsible medical
authority or his professor.
How to report the result from a medical study?06 Apr 2005 17:58 GMT18
The result from a study, be it double or triple blind, controlled or
otherwise, should be expressed in the format of 'probabilities, degree
of response, chances of success, etc.' and to do so in conjunction with
the underlying conditions surrounding a particular ill.  The result
im new here06 Apr 2005 04:10 GMT1
New I may be here but certainly am no newbie in the area of Tinnitus.
I live with it quite "peacefully" and avoid loud noises as much as possible.
Left ear "hears" via cochlear implant, right ear has digital support but
does not give much more than the sense of hearing stereo.
