Cochrane Collaborative " FESS no better than Medical Treatment for Chronic Sinusitis20 Apr 2007 18:51 GMT3

This is the same gang that prevously threw out all the studies using
Zithromax and Clindiamycian and Euthromycian on chronic sinusitis.
They considered three studies using Amoxicillian, and when little
Reflux As a Default Diagnosis20 Apr 2007 05:58 GMT7
Sure seem to be a whole bunch of folks whose physicians are diagnosing
them with "reflux" because they can't think of anything else to do.
I'm not a fan of having default "trash" diagnoses, ones the doctors pull
out of their butts when they can't make a definitive diagnosis:  "We

Sinusitis and Caffeine18 Apr 2007 03:06 GMT37
All,
Perhaps others have already observed this but I noticed some
similarities between migraines, caffeine withdrawal and my sinus
symptoms. I did some research this week and have come to the
First opinion, second opinion18 Apr 2007 00:52 GMT14
Well I had taken a break from 'dealing' with this problem and decided
to 'live' with it about a year ago.  After a year, I thought I give it
another shot...

Cautery and Empty Nose Syndrome17 Apr 2007 21:16 GMT1
I'm meeting with an ENT specialist (my third) on Tuesday to discuss
surgery for my chronically swollen inferior turbinates. I saw him a
couple of weeks ago and he confirmed via nasal endoscopy and CT scan
that I need the surgery and could also use a straightening of my
MRSA False Negatives by Inference17 Apr 2007 20:51 GMT2
I am not really sure exactly what the person who wrote this paragragh
was trying to say, but it seems the false negatives were in the 35 to
50% range for Staph and 82% for vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus.

New to group after surgery17 Apr 2007 16:31 GMT3
I'm so glad I found this place where others can relate!  I've had
sinus problems that seem like forever, but this year has been by far
the worst.  In Nov I got a sinus infection so bad the headaches felt
like migranes, 7 days of ammox and within a month it was back again -

My ENT is a member of the American Rhinologic Society. Does this mean
he has more training or more skill than someone who is not member?
Identifying an ENT14 Apr 2007 19:39 GMT3
I'm an American living in Beijing, and after years of sinus problems
I've finally had a CT scan showing a number of polyps.  I've decided
to go through with the surgery, but need to go back to the US to do
that.

My ENT wants to perform a "Bilateral Inferior Turbinate Outfracture &

up with Empty Nose Syndrome?  Are there alternative procedures?
Macrolides as anti-inflammatory?08 Apr 2007 22:20 GMT43
http://www.medscape.com/medline/abstract/15586560
Interesting article. I remember reading a similar one some months ago,
except that that one was more specifically about the long-term use of
azithromycin in cystic fibrosis, also for its anti-inflammatory properties.
