stenotrophomonas maltophilia31 May 2006 04:13 GMT32
Doe anyone know if stenotrophomonas maltophila in the sinuses needs to
be treated.  I looked it up on this group and couldn't find it.  I've
looked it up on some other sites and can't seem to find agreement as to
whether it is pathogenic or not.  I have had it cultured from my
Bactroban works for me!30 May 2006 21:25 GMT2
If you have chronic or recurrent sinusitis and you do not tolerate oral
antibiotics very well, ask your ENT about mixing Bactroban 2% ointment
in Ocean saline nasal spray.  It works great for me!  Make sure your
doctor prescribes regular Bactroban ointment and NOT "Bactroban Nasal"
Adaptor compatibility question27 May 2006 19:52 GMT3
Little flecks of black were coming out of my adaptor this
morning.  The Waterpik is a few years old.
I bought a new Waterpik Ultra, but the adaptor doesn't fit.
Last time I replaced the Waterpik, the adaptor (made of metal) didn't
I think I may need surgery - advise needed25 May 2006 19:58 GMT11
I am been battling constant inflammation of my nasal passages for 5
months with no respite. I feel "constant" ear fullness and stuffy nose.
I think my turbinates have become so swollen that nothing brings them
down. Everytime I encounter an irritant, my turbinates swell. Inside or
Frontal sinuses24 May 2006 04:44 GMT5
I've been using a Hydropulse for 3 days and I feel
better but I feel that while the other sinuses are unclogging
the frontal sinuses are still blocked.
I don't have headaches anymore but I feel heavy above the eyes
HEPA vs electrostatic air cleaners?23 May 2006 02:44 GMT22
Any opinions on if a HEPA based air cleaner is safer
and better than an electrostatic air cleaner such as
the Friedrich C90 units?
How many here even use a bedroom air cleaner of any
Hypertonic vs. Isotonic Solution?22 May 2006 20:32 GMT1
Hi, Everyone - I just wondered which is recommended mostly - the hypertonic
or the isotonic saline solutions?   I've tried both, and the hypertonic does
seem to unclog me better - more gunk comes out and I can breathe easier.
But is this damaging anything in the long run?  What ...

stuffy nose17 May 2006 06:18 GMT2
just a quick question:
when we get cold, which part of the respiratory tract is blocked?
I have been a long term sinusitis patient with not much improvement.
until I have recently had a tube inserted from my nose into my stomach
An Unexpected Side Effect Of Irrigation16 May 2006 12:50 GMT1
I've learned this the hard way, through experience:
When you eat a meal, tiny little food particles can remain stuck to the
back of your throat for a while after eating.  Especially if they're
fibrous and don't dissolve well, like vegetables.
Long time posters here, what's your story?15 May 2006 14:45 GMT9
Hey guys,
I just wanted to ask what the story is of the long time posters here, I
guess to try and give myself an idea of how things might be.
Have been to an ENT finally, CT scan totally clear, am still completely
Powerful Relief TMJ Pain Techniques14 May 2006 01:01 GMT1
You see, nobody know exactly why it happens, but TMJ is caused by most
of the muscles in the head (including the throat, tongue, jaw and the
shoulders) to stiffen up. This causes the pain and dysfunctions in this
area.
hydropulse vs ear syringe12 May 2006 23:07 GMT2
I find that i like the rushing water of the hydropulse but that when
using the nasal tip the solution does not reach my membranes further
back and  down toward my throat which are dry ,sore ,irritated and
easily infected.  I feel more relief using an ear syringe with either
Has anyone ever used vasoline to coat their sinus cavities?12 May 2006 23:07 GMT7
About 10 years ago, my allergist suggested I take clean vasoline on a
que-tip and coat my sinuses. His theory was salt and other sprays
irritate and dry you out, what I needed he said was to coat them like
you put on chap stick for dry irritated lips.   My problems with my
Buying Distilled Water12 May 2006 13:11 GMT38
I would like to try irrigating with distilled water (who knows if the
tap water is contaminated in my area).  But I do a lot of
irrigating--just one irrigation uses most of a quart of water, and I
irrigate several times a day at least.  Where do people who do nasal
