Packing-How to Stop The Bleeding!25 Aug 2004 03:35 GMT6
An ENT surgeon  here(Australia) uses the finger of a rubber surgical glove
filled with gauze as the "packing".When it is pulled out the gauze does not
stick.....it must be kept in mind it is the PRESSURE of the packing that is
needed to stop the bleeding. When the rubber "finger" is ...
Deviated Septum Surgery25 Aug 2004 00:13 GMT6
Personally I am considering a deviated septum ONLY surgery.
Could this really be so risky and require a long recovery time?
Any surgery that involves bone is a bit more uncomfortable as to recovery
time. Each person is different in pain level as you know. I had my septum
Vertigo23 Aug 2004 18:22 GMT2
In 2001 I had sinus surgery and septoplasty, both have helped me
tremendously.  I no longer have sinus headaches or a congested nose, but
since 2002 I have had recurring bouts with vertigo.  My ENT has ran many
tests and I seem to have "a weakness in my inner ear."  I was wondering ...

I have a friend who has had sinus surgery twice. She says she gets best
relief by not using Nasonex,Rhinocort etc.....instead,she uses a one shot of
Beconase(Blue pack) in each nostril each morning and has had no trouble

Chronic Steriod Use23 Aug 2004 10:52 GMT18
Sometimes the only relief for some of us is found in the "big guns" as some
doctors call them. I think of antibiotics as big guns. We only use them
when absolutely necessary so as not to let the bacteria get resistant to
them. Periorbital Cellulitis needs a big gun else it can ...
Septoplasty healing time??23 Aug 2004 04:13 GMT14
I had a Septoplasty 12 days ago. This was to relieve my breathing and
itchy throat at night when my head lay on the pillow.
Now doing the usual cleansing treatment etc etc but what I am slightly
worried about is when do you know the OP has worked???? I am getting
The Bad News Is....22 Aug 2004 19:19 GMT2
Cleveland Clinic "lost" my medical record and CD's of my CT Scans!! Give me
a friggin (can I say friggin here?) break. They referred me to Ann Arbor
because my ENT moved to Florida. Ann Arbor has no records for my upcoming
visit and Cleveland now has no records to send them. Two ...
Deviated Septum cause problems during sleep ?22 Aug 2004 16:09 GMT3
Is it possible that a deviated septum could cause more problems more during
sleep than while awake ?  How come my nose is so clogged in the morning only
?
FYI my CT scan showed a deviated septum w/ bone spur and polyps, and I am
Air Cleaners22 Aug 2004 01:51 GMT5
I've had persistent sinusitis for about 5 years, and have little luck
with irrigation (grossan) or surgery.  I am still puzzled as to whether
my issues are allergy based, infection based, or something else.  In my
quest for solutions, I am thinking of getting an air cleaner.  I've
CT Scan and Turbinates22 Aug 2004 01:38 GMT6
Let's say a person with no current sinus infection, but
with inferior and middle turbinate swelling, (due to
allergies from inhaled particles), gets a CT Scan done,
should the CT Scan show the swelling?
Flashing Lights21 Aug 2004 22:44 GMT15
Hi, does anyone see flashing lights in their vision often because of their
sinusitis?  I was wondering if this is normal.  Thanks
Study: How Ethmoid Sinuses Become Infected After FESS20 Aug 2004 17:19 GMT6
I inadvertently stumbled across the following interesting study.
While healthy sinus cavities are normally thought to be sterile, it
appears that FESS actually makes it *easier* for bacteria from the nasal
passages to spread into the ethmoid sinuses, by making the ethmoid
Magnesium/Manganese and Fungicides20 Aug 2004 03:45 GMT1
