Need advice08 Feb 2004 04:28 GMT1
I have what is obviously a nasty sinus infection. I sometimes get it in the
Fall and in the spring when the weather changes. Well, here in Michigan I
got it starting last Monday. (I guess the weather did go from 5 degrees to
maybe 25 degrees!).
Looking for diagnosis (amateur or not)08 Feb 2004 01:30 GMT1
Hi, one week ago (on a Friday), I had an extremely running nose.. the
fluid coming out of my nose was very thin... it had a density and
consistency corresponding closely to water.  I felt somewhat run-down
and was ready for sleep at 7pm.  Though I was forced by my family to
No Insurance :( Need sinus surgery, Now what?08 Feb 2004 00:45 GMT1
My nose has been clogged on and off for years. Sometimes its not to bad.
I had a few infections each year. Pain/pressure in upper rear teeth.
Anyways I found a ENT that a friend had, He said he would look at me at
a discount rate because I have no insurance. He did the office visit ...
Decongestants make sinus infection worse?06 Feb 2004 23:25 GMT2
Sometimes I think taking a decongestant during a cold actually leads
to a sinus infection, or makes it worse. I've read Sinusitis sufferers
shouldn't take antihistamines because of their drying effect, but
don't decongestants do the same?
vistaril for anxiety and anti-histamine effect?06 Feb 2004 16:14 GMT4
i just found out/heard about something called vistaril.
i think maybe it's an 'old school' medication - used before benzo's
came into existence - that is used as anti-anxiety med and an
anti-histamine and also says it's sometimes used as a
After you use Flonase?06 Feb 2004 04:58 GMT11
i do flonase one nostril at a time, with few hours lag time until i do
the other nostril. i like to keep things staggered like this. call me
silly, but it's like a little insurance policy the thought being when
the effect wears off on one nostril and it is swollen too much,
Sinus Survival - Any experience with it?06 Feb 2004 01:42 GMT12
Just bought the book Sinus Survival which I know has been mentioned
several times on this group.  The holistic approach is very foreign to
me so of course I'm very skeptical.
The vitamin & mineral treatment makes a little bit of sense to me (of
How important is the climate?05 Feb 2004 20:54 GMT4
I see so much mention of the climate and it's affect on the sinuses
and the nose.
My problems, like many of those on this NG, are non-existant until we
catch a bug of some sort.  A simple cold perhaps, a more violent
Anti-anxiety meds and sinus problems05 Feb 2004 14:35 GMT21
don't know about ya'll, but my nasal problems sure are starting to get

things got critical, but now i'm getting quite dysfunctional. no sleep

Maxillary sinus opening tube. Whats it called?05 Feb 2004 04:07 GMT2
Does anyone know what the tube (opening)to the maxillary sinus is
called? How long is it and how far is it inside the nose. I have been
irrigating and I swear I can finally feel it opening when I use cool
solution instead of warm. Also this started when I did 4 irrigations in
Ephedra04 Feb 2004 22:12 GMT3
I've used Ephedra in the past, as prescribed in Dr. Ivker's book, for
reduction of inflammation.  With the US Fed Gov moving to ban Ephedra, what
can I use as an equally effective replacement?

ENT Didn't Prescribe More Antibiotics !!!!04 Feb 2004 22:11 GMT15
Hello fellow sinus sufferers,
My sinuses have been congested and I believe infected (green mucus)
since at least early November.
My regular doc had me on Biaxin for 2 weeks and that did nothing.

Hi Dr. Grossan,
Is it possible that instead of order the entire package of Hydropulse
system I just order the machine only which mine broke down after a
year of use...
What came first -- inflammation, dryness or infection03 Feb 2004 02:26 GMT4
Does nasal dryness cause inflammation?
Does nasal dryness cause an infection?
Does nasal dryness & inflammation leave one more susceptible to an
infection?
Is Mayo Clinic really that good?02 Feb 2004 01:10 GMT10
For some reason, I see Mayo mentioned all over this board.  Why is
that?
1- I'm looking on their website and I see 3 different locations
(Florida, Arizona, & Minnesota).  Is there a specific hospital that is
