Trial treatments31 May 2008 15:43 GMT8
A friend of mine is just starting a trial consisting of taxotere,
avastin and hormone therapy..all concurrently.
First of all, has anyone heard of this particular combination?
Secondly, could we as patients just request that combination or others
Biopsy results31 May 2008 00:14 GMT5
Negative!
I called the doc's office again and the nice lady gave me the good news.
I'd like to thank all you guys for your kind support and well wishes. This
place is invaluable. I've learned a lot from reading this NG and wish all
HIFU (High Intensity Focused Ultrasound)30 May 2008 22:45 GMT8
HIFU Notes
I haven't seen much in this group about HIFU, but after my 6 weeks of
research into my treatment options, I have decided to undergo HIFU.
I'll try and update this group again after the procedure
Chief's Posting30 May 2008 21:16 GMT2
CALCHIEF IS HAVING ISSUES.  HE ASKED ME TO POST THIS:
Something's screwed up with my newsgroup reader.
I can read, but not post.
If you think this would be of interest to the group,
Purchase a Recliner for post-RP?30 May 2008 12:09 GMT16
Many postings have suggested obtaining a recliner for after the
operation.  I do not know anyone from whom I can borrow one.  Is it
really sufficiently worth while  having for me to purchase an
inexpensive one and donate it to charity after I recover?
Blood Clot In Urine29 May 2008 04:33 GMT27
I'm on the catheter, 6th day since operation.  Have been noticing blood clots
in urine.  Instructions say to call surgeon if I get "large" blood clots.
Yesterday's  2 were arguable about "large".  Today's was maybe 1/16" or so in
diameter, although that might be maginified by the ...
Finesteride Study - Promising forPCa Risk Reduction27 May 2008 22:07 GMT3
As a "watchful waiting" guy whose regimen includes taking Proscar
(finesteride), I was interested in the report in Science Daily about the
apparent positive effect of taking finesteride among men not yet diagnosed
with prostate cancer.
loss of bladder control, surgery is not always a most!!!27 May 2008 21:53 GMT1
Many people who have bladder problems do not seek treatment because
they believe the only treatment available to them is surgery. This is
not always the case; treatments for incontinence include behavioral,
medical, and surgical. Surgery is usually reserved for people whose
A Different Nomogram!26 May 2008 18:24 GMT15
This nomogram is somewhat different from others I have seen. It
results in a more optimistic projection for many of us, however, so I
am not really sure how useful it is. The nomogram creators admit: "The
calibration plots suggest that the predictions of the nomogram may be
Robot Attack + 50 Hours26 May 2008 17:03 GMT7
Just got home from the hospital about about an hour ago.  Am feeling great,
considering, with just some small pain in abdomen.  Pain around penetration
sites when they are touched.  Have hole in side where drain tube was pulled
out.  Pulling of drain tube was painful but over in a ...

Nanotechnology And Prostate Cancer26 May 2008 04:03 GMT5
I have been excited about the possibilities of this technology since I
first saw the program on 60 minutes, and the other day on the CBS series
on cancer research. I did a little search today on Google and found that
a team at Yale was given a grant to study nanoparticles in ...
post-op biopsy results good25 May 2008 19:35 GMT11
No spread to lymph nodes that were removed.  No positive margins.
Unexpectedly, my eyes started tearing up when I heard this.  I was
pretty sure it was ok, but I guess I had just encapsulated the worry.
Now just need to do the follow up PSA tests.
Waiting is agony24 May 2008 16:36 GMT8
Just called the doc's office to get the biopsy results from the biopsy
performed last Tuesday. Not in yet. Man, this waiting, thinking and
worrying is rough.

Problem reading news24 May 2008 15:57 GMT13
I don't know if anyone can help me with this, but I thought I would
give it a try.  (I'm supposed to be an expert at this sort of thing!)
I've been participating in this newsgroup, and a few others, for
years.  My internet connection is through Comcast.  I use thunderbird
