When the prostate is removed, is the path exam of it done like a biopsy, i.e. samples are taken from the removed organ? Or is the total organ examined for cancer?

A suggestion that has been made to me here more than once is that I not accept my urologist's biopsy until it has been confirmed by a "second opinion" from a nationally recognized lab. In a list of such labs that I have seen is DIANON Systems -- which IS the source of the biopsy

i would llike to hear from veterans of radiation therapy. what side effects are you experiencing? i hear there can be rectal leakage. i hear that side effects can show up years after the therapy. is there any recurrance of the cancer?

Can anyone advise me whether it would be worth pursuing a second, perhaps more extensive, biopsy that would focus more heavily on left lateral base and surrounding area, which was the only area where cancer was found? My biopsy last week yielded one out of 12 tissue speciments
