I had my brachytherapy on Nov 21, 2005.
Have recovered well, but, I am having severe problems urinating at
night.   It is very, very, painfull getting flow started, and keeping it
going.  I am getting up about every hour or hour &1/2.

My husband (64) was diagnoses with Prostate Cancer last July with PSA
5.2. After much research, of which this NG was the primary source, he
had surgery at Stanford University Hospital with Dr. James Brooks.

Nerve sparing RPP done on Tuesday Dec 13th.

Donna Pogliano, co-author with Stephen B. Strum, MD, of _A Primer on
Prostate Cancer_ has written on PPML (Prostate Pointers Mailing List)
that she sent offers to  200  medics of free copies of the book and got
only a handful of responses. IMNSHO, that is shameful.

I've heard different opinions from both doc's and patients on getting a
CT and a bone scan prior to treatment? What do you think? My numbers
are PSA 5.79, DRE was normal, positive biopsy's were 2 out of 10 cores
with Gleason's of 4+4=8 and 4+3=7. Staging of T1c.

Tomorrow, 11/21 is my date for brachytherapy.
My biospy was sept 17th.  postive on 2 out of 18.  gleason only 5 total.
Dr told me that there were three options, surgery, do nothing or
radiation ( seeds or external)
