Sex after seeds report15 Jul 2005 18:34 GMT6
One reason I chose brachytherapy was concern over impotence. Some
recent research shows long-term results in that regard may not be much
better than surgery--though I don't think that's really settled yet.
But early results are in favor of seeds. Here's my report for any of
Canadian device lets doctors better pinpoint radiation for prostate cancer15 Jul 2005 17:29 GMT4
Just a heads up......Dr. Gerard Morton is the one who did Ron's HDR
radiation treatment.
I believe someone asked very recently about being able to pinpoint a shift
in the prostate gland.
My Nephew's biopsy horror15 Jul 2005 12:31 GMT20
My nephew is 55 yrs old. About two months ago he went to a urologist
because he had difficulty urinating. The urologist diagnosed him with an
enlarged prostate and prescripted Uroxotral 10 mg. The medication worked
fine. While my nephew was at the doctor's office they gave a PSA ...

How dry is dry?14 Jul 2005 18:49 GMT16
As always, I want to thank everyone here for past help and support.
This question is not high on the scale of importance at this time but
your comments are always more than appreciated.
I'm just over 3 months out of RRP by Dr. Catalona here in Chicago with
Support boxers for comfort14 Jul 2005 15:26 GMT8
If you are looking for the ultimate in comfortable support you may be
helped by a boxer short design created by my cousin in France. An
engineer, he created a product that combines the comfort of a boxer
with the support of a brief. If you think this would ease your
Which pad to start with?14 Jul 2005 11:58 GMT14
I've got less than 10 days before my RRP.  I'm trying to get everything
I need together before surgery.  My Uro said to bring 'pads' with me
when the catheter comes out 3 weeks after surgery.  My question is
which size/type of pad should I take to that appointment?
Fashion statements14 Jul 2005 02:15 GMT9
I wanted to take a shower yesterday afternoon. But, as you know, I have
to keep the incision dry, so the instructions were to tape a sheet of
Saran wrap over the area. With my wife's assistance I got all taped up
and then looked in the mirror. Buck naked except for shaved pubes

Gotta love those mountains13 Jul 2005 05:39 GMT6
Within a couple of hours of my surgery, the nurse came around with a
little plastic gadget that tests lung capacity. The idea is that you
suck on a mouthpiece and a little piston moves up a scale to show how
much air you can draw into your lungs. The scale goes up to 5 litres; a

Post-Prostatectomy Shopping List
I compiled this shopping list of paraphernalia that it would be good to have
on hand when you get back from surgery starting in September 2001 before my
own operation based on responses I got to a request here for suggestions.

First checkup after seeds12 Jul 2005 12:06 GMT10
Yesterday I had my one-month appointment with my radiologist and
urologist after brachytherapy. No real examination--the first PSA test
won't be done until 90 days after the operation, and they say the first
serious results will be at the 6 month mark.
Dammit! Wet the bed again.11 Jul 2005 23:06 GMT5
Thought I was over that many months ago, so the bed pad was bunched off to
one side. Woke up in a pool, probably a long time after the dam burst.
Probably just so sound asleep that the sphincter failed AND I slept through
it AND my moderate diaper didn't absorb the hit. It wasn't ...
