I was diagnosed last month with advanced Prostate Cancer. My PSA was 495.5. I just found out today that the gleason is 4 + 4 and 4 + 3, whatever that means. They have me on Casodex daily. i get Zometa transfusion each month.

I've been running for just a couple of months (to trim off some excess weight) and have just completed my first ever fun run, 8 km. I had 3 goals: 1 - to finish, 2 - to run all the way and 3 - to do it in under an hour. I managed all three with a time of 55 mins 33 sec, woohoo!

A year ago psa 5.6 and 12 needle biop showed one core 5pct pca Nothing shows on a digital exam. Two psa since have been 3.8 and the latest 4.2. I have a digital every 3-4 months. I was taking testosterone and stopped at the first sign a year ago. I miss it.

Saw the surgeon on Friday and the surgery will be scheduled for mid-May. The surgeon, a woman, said that she does lots of hernia repairs on men that have had RRP. Wonder if there are any stat's on this, i.e., higher incidence of hernia on men post RRP? This will have to be open ...
