PSA 3.821 May 2005 12:44 GMT15
My son is 42 and lives in Mew Zealand.  His PSA came back at 4.1
followed in a few weeks at 3.8.  DRE found nothing unusual.  Doc sent
him to a uro who said he needed the biopsy since he considered the PSA
high and the fact that I had PC.  He is having the biopsy today.  I
Extreme urinary frequency21 May 2005 12:14 GMT6
As I have written (with many helpful replies), I am receiving RT and taking
Flomax, which helped the intensity of my urge to urinate--until now.  I am
confronted now with an incredible frequency of urinating and intensity of
the urge.  Originally, the doctor gave me Flomax as ...
Delurking With A Medicare Question20 May 2005 23:49 GMT6
I've been lurking here to 4-5 weeks and really appreciate the quality of the
information, shared experiences and general discussion I find in this newsgroup.
I'm breaking my lurk with this question:
Does Medicare classify robotic assisted prostatectomy (RAB) as an "accepted"

Has anyone heard of this doctor on this ng? I live in a western suburb
of Ft. Lauderdale, and I almost went with this guy last fall for my
surgery. I emailed him and in about 20 minutes later to my suprise he
called me personally, and on a Saturday no less! I found him to be a ...
Disposing of used pads20 May 2005 19:02 GMT16
Assuming things go the way I expect, some weeks from now I may be in my
office or other (more) semi-public place with a "full" pad (or maybe
even a full pair of super-absorbent briefs if I make a slow start
recovering) that needs changing. Since I assume it is anti-social to

Prophylactic removal of prostate?20 May 2005 09:36 GMT6
I've got a lot of prostate cancer in my family history. Do any urologists
advocate prophylactic removal of prostate? And if not, why not?
Thanks,

What's biopsy like?20 May 2005 07:35 GMT12
I am having a biopsy done in a couple of weeks and would like to get
some idea as to what the procedure will be like.  I have had a couple
of colonoscopies done so I am familiar with the general idea.  But how
much pain or discomfort will I experience?  I know I'll be under
Update20 May 2005 05:38 GMT3
Monday's CT scans, Bone scan, chest xrays, blood tests - all clear! Doc
says if it weren't for the elevated post op PSA he'd declare me as
healthy as a horse.
Speaking of horses, I'm peeing like a racehorse again. Not sure what
Sanity check20 May 2005 01:07 GMT31
A reminder of my magic numbers (hm, maybe I should play the lottery
with these) - Age 47, PSA 6.8, 4.3, 4.8 over the past 6 months (no
previous PSA, the
first one is probably unrealistic because no-one told me not to ride my
Catheter out today, but ---20 May 2005 00:50 GMT9
My catheter was removed today following RRP on May 5th. Also got my
pathology report and all is well. Doc believes the cancer was all
contained within the prostate gland. I will be getting a PSA test soon
to make sure.
Where is post on T3c - T2 similarity?19 May 2005 22:00 GMT2
A month or two ago someone -- probably Curtis -- posted a study (maybe from
the Mayo Clinic) that showed the outcome statistics of T3C patents to be
very similar to those of  T2 pts, indicating that seminal vesicle
involvement didn't have a significant effect on prognosis as long ...
question re: biopsy be newbie19 May 2005 19:56 GMT18
I am new to this group and have a question.  I am 48 year old male with
psa of just over 2.  Doctor wants to do biopsy because of my age and
the fact that I am having some minor difficulty urinating.  He says it
shouldn't be over 1.6 - 1.8 at my age.  He wouldn't do a free psa test
