Radiation Therapy Ending14 Mar 2004 17:56 GMT3
My radiation therapy (3D Conformal) ends Monday, March 22. I'll have had
41 treatments at Kaiser Sunset in L.A. So far I've had minimal side
effects (some urination frequency and a bit of pain) but medication has
pretty much alleviated that.
Robots here we come14 Mar 2004 15:13 GMT7
After a tough week, we are finally ready to get this done.  Phil has
to report to the hospital at 5:15am Monday for 7:30 am surgery.  It's
amazing how calm we both are today!  He's on clear liquids only from
now until after surgery and even joking about it.  Wish us luck. :)
PSA #14 Mar 2004 04:40 GMT9
Ok, it's not earth shattering but still creeping lower.
It was 0.17 in September it is now 0.15
Don't know if this is the nadir. But this is good. The nurse gave me the
number and said "this is very excellent". (Had to laugh - can you have a

Appt with rad-onc tomorrow14 Mar 2004 01:25 GMT4
Tomorrow we have an appointment with the rad-onc who performed my husband's
brachytherapy. It's not exactly 2 years but rather 22 months since his
brachytherapy. I know he will have another PSA done. So I'm crossing my
fingers and toes that this will be as good or better than the ...

"Guards for Men"12 Mar 2004 21:54 GMT6
Today, I'm 9 weeks + one day post RP.  I'm here to seek suggestions and/or
recommendations for some sort of pad to help absorb the slight leaks I'm
experiencing.
I'm approximately half way through my first package of "guards for men".  After
Surgery set for Monday and!!!12 Mar 2004 16:54 GMT14
I don't even care if anyone answers this, but I need a place to rant a
little.  Surgery (lrp) is set for my Phil on this coming Monday.  This
is how the past 10 days have gone:  He came down with a very bad chest
cold, went to the doctor and got on antibiotics and decongestant.

Biopsy Report Benign w/Elevated PSA11 Mar 2004 22:15 GMT6
My 62-year-old cousin's PSA jumped up quite a bit and he just had a
biopsy which came back benign.  Does anyone have any thoughts as to
why the PSA might have been gone up like this?  His history over the
last 3-1/2 years is as follows:

I'm 57 I've been reading the posts for a few weeks now. My PSA from
the annual physical  jumped from 1.4 to 3.58 in a year and my regular
doc referred me to a URO who did a DRE ( some enlargement, soft,
symetrical) and a new PSA. Back to 1.46. So for now, no biopsy and no
Salvage RT Poll11 Mar 2004 03:05 GMT9
Has anyone in this NG heard of anyone w/ seminal vesicle involvement
or other high-risk pathology whose recurrent PCa was "cured" by
salvage RT? I am at that point and my uro says RT won't help and the
rad-onc says to have it (in his financial interest, of course). Walsh
