Got the results just awhile ago, of the biopsies done on hubby.  NEGATIVE
for cancer.
Doc feels it was either an infection of maybe setting all the time and
pressure.   He will continue to be monitored since his father had Ca but
Update31 Oct 2003 21:23 GMT10
Wife retiring, cutting back expenses, high speed connection gone (and so
is the 30 a day virus emails I was still getting).  Back to dial up.  Oh
well.  Guess what?  New Earthlink account, two emails the first day, one
from Earthlink welcoming me to their service, the other SPAM ...
Home from Hospital - Recovering from Surgery31 Oct 2003 16:18 GMT5
Hello everyone.  I am a long time lurker on this board and very
appreciative of the ongoing commentary regarding treatments and
individual perspectives - very helpful.  I am 9 days from having my
surgery to remove my cancerous prostate, and wanted to report on my

Nighttime erection30 Oct 2003 23:37 GMT17
I awoke around 4 AM..... with a full erection.  This had happened last week,
and once about a month ago, but those times the erection was not as strong.
Guess there's still reason for hope!  At 11 months post-op, I find it hard
to think things will change much from here on out... ...
The die is cast30 Oct 2003 15:25 GMT5
I stayed up most of the night reading research reports on
the web, trying to compare all of the apples in one
report to the oranges in the next, and trying to reason my
way through the usual conundrums of extrapolating from

Continence and Kegel exercises30 Oct 2003 03:37 GMT3
I'm 6+ months post RRP and, thankfully, have been completely dry
for a couple of months.  (Well, maybe a drop or two now and
then.)  I think the Kegel exercises I performed every day were
what got me to this point.
Seeding question30 Oct 2003 03:19 GMT4
Have any of you guys who optioned for seeding to remove the prostate had
enough problems unrinating that you had to use a catheter and for how long?
I understand that the radiation from the seeds can cause some men's
prostates to swell during early days or weeks of the procedure.
Don's catheter has been removed, the path results are in and we're all smiles!30 Oct 2003 02:23 GMT5
Dr. Taylor gave Don great news this morning.  The path report for the
October 20th LRP indicated that all of the cancer was contained within
the prostate; the margins, seminal vesicals and nodes were clear.  His
Gleason was downgraded from 7 to 6.  His only restriction is to lift
Hormones - love 'em or leave 'em?29 Oct 2003 20:05 GMT6
I've made all the decisions about my treatment (HDR + EBRT + HDR) except
one - whether to get Lupron hormone injections or not.
One doctor advises it, another does not.  One says the side effects are
relatively mild, the other says we aren't sure what all the side effects
Biopsy Question29 Oct 2003 19:55 GMT32
I had a biopsy (14 specimens) on October 6, it is now October 17 and I'm
still passing a small amount of blood when urinating. Is this normal or
should the bleeding have stopped by now?
Worried wife...post op PSA is up29 Oct 2003 16:23 GMT18
Here I am, back again after more than a  year. My husband had RRP in May of
2002 and has had PSAs of <.1 for the past 18 months (our small town lab doesn't
measure any more sensitively than that.)  His most recent reading is .1 and the
urologist says not to worry...they wouldn't do ...
