New PSA Study, some good news31 Aug 2003 19:07 GMT3
The August 1, 2003 issue of "Internal Medicine News" has a brief
article on PSA that supports our cause.  A Dr. Franklin C. Lowe of
Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, New York
presented a poster at the annual meeting of the American Urological
1 Year anniversary31 Aug 2003 17:39 GMT9
To coincide with my 1 year RP surgery, is my 26th wedding anniversary.
(What does that women STILL see in me anyhow?).... I just got my PSA result,
lab just switched to hundreths, and still undetectable at about 0.02 or so.
As expected the anxiety is temporarily over, and I am ...
Lycopene :  Help , Hoax, Hype or  ?31 Aug 2003 17:16 GMT2
Looking for the double blind tests.  I shall keep surfing and searching. Also
of course .... Pumpkin Seeds, Zinc, I could go on and on.  Is there a
definitive article or discussion about the Magic Foods and how they may
affect the prostate. Thanks for your input.
Please Help-Blood in Urine31 Aug 2003 13:47 GMT1
I am a 22 year old male and noticed Yesterday that my urine was a
pink/red color. There is no pain when I'm urinating or any other time
really. I have been mastubating more than usual and probably a little
to much for the last few weeks. The reason for this is because I
Good news and bad news31 Aug 2003 04:13 GMT11
I'm in the process of deciding on which type of treatment is best for
me (PSA 6.7; Free PSA 19%; Gleason 6; Stage T1c). My urologist
referred me to Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto to see if radioactive
treatment would be a better option than surgery.
Anyone out there with experiece with High Intensity focused Ultrasound and/or nanoparticle MRIs30 Aug 2003 21:51 GMT2
My Dad has gone through surgery, radiation and hormones but his PSA
number is climbing again. It was almost 0 after radiation. Was
wondering if anyone has experience, hopefully positive but negative
would be good to know, about the subject.

Those of us who have been here for a while got used to seeing this post
every few weeks.
I don't want to see it scroll off the archives and be lost forever, so I
took it on myself to re-post it.
To all people in the US 29 Aug 2003 15:53 GMT5
We received a bill for John's cat and bone scans on July 3 yesterday.  Since
we are on the Blue Cross PPO, preferred participating providers sign a
contract whereby they are only allowed to charge so much for procedures.  I
checked this bill against the Blue Cross statements and ...
steps to urinary continence29 Aug 2003 15:28 GMT2
In three weeks my husband, who underwent RRP yesterday, will have his
catheter removed and begin his quest for urinary continence.  This could
be difficult for him to achieve as his bladder muscle tone is poor,
capacity is limited and urinary urgency is already present due to many
New PSA result28 Aug 2003 11:39 GMT10
Well, guys it's been 15 months since the brachytherapy. For those who don't
know there were 5 weeks of external beam radiation prior to the brachy. The
PSA is .17 (That's point one seven!!!) Yep, we are excited.
I was on the playground today with the kids looking at my watch and ...
Interesting Note on PSA's28 Aug 2003 04:07 GMT2
Just thought I'd mention that my urologist asked the lab to do one
last PSA during my pre-op physical to use as a "baseline".  It came
back 3.37, over one and a half points less than the 4.9 I had a couple
of months earlier, the one that prompted the biopsy in the first
radiation treatment after effects28 Aug 2003 03:18 GMT13
My cousin had radiation treatment a year or so ago and we thought that this
was a success.  To our surprise, he's having sever issues and :locks" up,
i.e., can't urinate.  He then goes in and gets "reamed" out and is okay for
a month or so.  It appears that there is scar tissue that ...
