PVP urologist in Mid-Hudson Valley, N.Y31 Jul 2006 13:21 GMT4
Thanks to all who responded to my earlier post
(http://tinyurl.com/hb7xa) headed "medication or surgery". From what I
read here, PVP seems to be the treatment of choice for BPH.
Can anyone recommend a particularly skilled urologist in the Mid-Hudson

I've been on UraXatral for the last month since being diagnosed with
BPH; starting at 10 mg. with dinner, doubled about a week ago to 20 mg.
with breakfast and with dinner. I had a cystoscopy and bladder scan a
month ago. I've seen some mild improvement, but yesterday was a hard
PVP success!30 Jul 2006 23:17 GMT20
I had my PVP last Thursday, so it's a little over 6 days since the
procedure.  I'm doing incredibly well.  I feel very fortunate to be
representative of PVP at its best, it would seem.
My surgery was at 9:30 in the morning.  I awoke in the recovery room,

I met with my urologist the other day who talked with me about various
surgery options for bph. Of course he described TURP as "the gold
standard," which is a phrase I've seen associated with the procedure
in my readings. We also discussed other surgery options, as well as
One Month After PVP25 Jul 2006 00:40 GMT4
It has been a month since my PVP.  All stinging, urgency, and pain are gone.
Good stream that begins with a little blood.  Sometimes a little more blood
after playing a few sets of tennis or working out at the gym.  I assume the
drop of blood that starts with the urine is standard ...

Blood after PVP12 Jul 2006 00:55 GMT8
It has been 18  days since my PVP.  At first my urine was very clear.  Now I
have some sort of infection and I am taking Cipro 1000mg per day for it.
My pee is dark and when  I start a stream a very small amount of blood comes
out with the pee.  Every so often a very small, short ...
Major breakthrough discovered?11 Jul 2006 22:44 GMT5
I've held off posting this message for several weeks to insure that the
results I've experienced aren't either imagined or short-lived.
Okay, here it is:  I'm 70 years old and have been taking Proscar for
almost ten years.  I have an enlarged prostate.
Question about my PVP this Thursday11 Jul 2006 05:56 GMT7
Well, after hanging out at this group for 2 or 3 years now, it's
finally time for me to have my own PVP.  I'm scheduled this Thursday
with Dr. Laub.  And I've got a question to put to your collective
wisdom.
Concerned about increase in PSA11 Jul 2006 00:33 GMT7
I am 60 years old. I was surprised by a recent PSA uptick at my annual
physical exam.
The data is below. I might add my doctor is not at all concerned. Any
thoughts? (Note that this last one was in 7/06, about 1.5 years after the

is it common or advised to take some type of strong pain reliever -
like morphine - just before having a biopsy ? i know they use
lidocaine, but it seems most find biopsies uncomfortable -- i am
wondering why most uros dont give pain medication prior to the
Bladder capacity 4 weeks post pvp07 Jul 2006 18:11 GMT17
Has anyone had problems post pvp or TURP with reduced functional
bladder capacity resulting in greater frequency?  While my stream is
stronger, my maximum void has consistently been 100-120 ml. I'm still
going 4-6 times a night. I'm 55 and it turned out that I had a normal
