color doppler ultrasound to detect prostate cancer?28 Apr 2006 01:50 GMT32
I've had PSA and Free PSA and hope to avoid a biopsy, which may turn
out to be negative like one I had 4 years ago. What do people think
about color doppler ultrasound as a step towards clarifying the
diagnoisis?

avodart and rheumatoid arthritis26 Apr 2006 01:56 GMT3
I have been on Avodart since October 2005. A month or so ago, I was
diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis. My rheumatologist said that he had
experience with other men on prostate medicine who developed rheumatoid
arthritis. I did a little research and found that at the University ...

I had Targis TUMT over a year ago.  Results were marginal.
Flomax and Uroxatral doesn’t agree with me.
Yesterday I went in to see my URO, Jim Fagelson.  Since I have some
plans for the summer I thought about trying PVP this fall.  He took a
PVP and prostate cancer?25 Apr 2006 22:50 GMT3
Suppose there were suspicion of prostate cancer, but no biopsy yet.
Would you proceed with planned PVP? If there is cancer, is it in a
different section of the prostate outside of the area cored out by PVP?
Would PVP vaporize tissue making cancer diagnosis impossible? Would PVP
PVP taking off25 Apr 2006 02:28 GMT1
The last time I checked the Laserscope site (at least 6 months ago) the
closest PVP doc was 100 miles away.  Checked today out of curiosity and
there are now 8 listed within a 10 mile radius.  Three in one practice, two
in another and 3 without partners.  I don't need it done now ...
PVP GREEN LIGHT23 Apr 2006 02:43 GMT6
Hello: It sounds like Laserscope is the way to go for BPH. Finding a
urologist who has done the 100 recommended procedures seems like a
formidable task. Getting this information from the office staff over
the phone might be a tough job too. I'd hate to have to make and pay
BPH and prostatis22 Apr 2006 22:06 GMT5
I am wondering if there are others with the same symptoms that I have been
having. I am a 69 year old male with BPH.  My urologist and I are watching.
Have been for almost 7 years or more.  About a year ago I began having a
little burning upon urination.  Most of the time things ...
Basic anatomy and physiology of the prostate - some questions22 Apr 2006 03:44 GMT21
While the web has lots of information about bph lots of it is simply
copying from other sites or repeating platitudes and dumbing down
complex functions. Some of the following may be dumb too but perhaps
one of the long term posters has some useful web links or further
Holmium Vs. KTP20 Apr 2006 02:37 GMT5
Any comments on the use of a Holmium laser vs. a KTP laser in an upcoming
BPH surgery?  Patient is 57 years old and, aside from BPH, is in excellent
health.  Prostate is 45g with mild lateral lobe enlargement and very
prominent median lobe.
Combining PVP & TURP Procedures20 Apr 2006 01:25 GMT1
I'm scheduled to have a PVP in one week. Because I have a large (>100 cc)
prostate, my urologist has suggested starting and ending the operation as a
PVP, but switching to a traditional TURP in the middle, in order to shorten
the operating time. Does anyone have any experience with, ...
"trabeculation" of the bladder wall20 Apr 2006 00:24 GMT2
Can anyone tell me what this means in terms of one's bladder health?  Is
it only a descriptive term or is there some deeper meaning pertaining to
whether one recovers from frequent urination, need to force urination,
etc?  My recent cystoscopy showed a score of 2 on trabeculation ...
