Symptoms Much Worse At Night30 Sep 2005 02:38 GMT11
I started having urinary problems about seven years ago.  About 3 l/2
years ago, I began to have "almost" acute urinary retentions at night
(almost completely blocked but going away in an hour or an hour and a
half).  A month ago, I had my first AUR and catheterization.
PVP Almost 2 Years Ago30 Sep 2005 01:06 GMT10
I had read the posts on the various procedures and decided on PVP
because it had the quickest results and recovery.  It took a little
while until I found a uro who does it close enough to where I live.  I
had the procedure Sep 29, 2003.  I left that evening and removed the

preparing home for post-pvp?25 Sep 2005 19:41 GMT6
Please list things that one should one have in the home before PVP to be
adequately prepared for the post-op period. For those who have had the
surgery, what things do you regret not having at home?

Hello Group,
I am new to this group and I am baffled by various abbreviations which I
have seen in letters.
I would like to know what is meant by TURP,UTI,DRE and PVP.

PVP vs other laser treatments25 Sep 2005 16:00 GMT7
I live in a rural area and the nearest PVP treatment available is several
hundred miles away. My uro tells me there is no difference in the end
result using another laser treatment (sorry, can't remember it's name)
available at our local hospital.
TURP25 Sep 2005 05:26 GMT1
I had a TURP performed 2 1/2 months ago. The bleeding and pain has stopped a
few weeks after the surgery. The anticipated benefits from this has yet to
occur. The only noticeable change has been a more severe urgency then prior
to the TURP. I am scheduled for a cystoscopy to try ...
Cooled ThermoTherapy vs. PVP24 Sep 2005 22:35 GMT3
My uro is recommending Cooled ThermoTherapy.  He has the equipment and
I have a feeling that is why he is recommending it vs. PVP.  Seem to me
that PVP is a less painful precedure with similar success.  Has anyone
else had to make the decision on which way to go?
Some questions I've been asked...18 Sep 2005 02:12 GMT2
First of all, let me say hello to all of who have helped me in the
past...Michael and the rest.   From time to time I check this newsgroup to
see if I can weigh in on a subject or two.
I had chosen to have a PVP after wrestling with FLOMAX and UROXATROL (known
catheters16 Sep 2005 12:33 GMT3
Is anyone on ISC - intermittent self catheterisation? I have been put on
this by the Urology department. I use a catheter 4 or 5 times a day in order
to rehabilitate the bladder which at present is stretched after having an
enlarged prostate for more than 12 years. The idea is to ...
PVP ~ Tricare ~ Retired Military15 Sep 2005 21:41 GMT13
I'm in Northern Virginia.  Andrews AFB only does TURPs & TUNAs.  If Bethesda
& Walter Reed give me a *non-availability*, I'm thinking about trying to get
Tricare to pay for a PVP in a local hospital.  Has anyone else pursued this
or heard of anyone who has tried this?  Thanks, ...
