24 hrs after PVP18 Apr 2005 16:06 GMT14
I thought I would add my post-op experiences of PVP to this forum as I have
learnt a lot from reading other accounts.
I had Greenlight PVP yesterday morning to solve blockage caused by my
prostate growing into the urethra. Age 53, generally good health,
find a doctor for PVP for prostatitis16 Apr 2005 03:33 GMT2
I know this is the wrong group for prostatitis - but it seems like the
best group for a PVP question.
I am trying to find a Doctor that will perform a PVP for prostatitis.
So far - I have had no luck.
My extraordinary PVP experience - Thanks Patrick!13 Apr 2005 21:08 GMT9
Finally 'bit the bullet' and underwent PVP April 1, 2005.  What an
extraordinary experience.  In fact, I've waited until now to post my results
since I figured it couldn't be this easy - something was bound to be a
problem in the days following the procedure. Well, so far, ...
Routine Followup after PVP..what is usual practice?12 Apr 2005 17:58 GMT5
Had PVP 2/23/05.  Saw URO for followup at 2 weeks, 6 weeks, and now
scheduled for 2 months from the 6 week checkup.  Wondering what has been
the experience of others in the PVP club as far as followup?  Is there a
pattern when they want to redo the flow test, or other tests?  How ...
Enlarged Prostrate12 Apr 2005 03:32 GMT4
I have a friend that has an enlarged prostrate and he is 61 yrs old.  He is
on Flomax, which helps urination greatly.  However, it appears his interest
in sex has declined and that ejaculation has become a thing of the past.
Also erection seems to have declined as well.
Patrick and PVP advice?11 Apr 2005 22:08 GMT20
I had a ThermatrX which was of limited success, and now want to have
PVP.  In selecting a uro, I have set a minimum of 20 procedures and have
found several local doctors.
Do you agree with my criteria, and would you add any others?
PVP second generation?11 Apr 2005 21:50 GMT4
Having had a ThermatRX procedure 2 years ago (with insufficient results)
I am a candidate for a TURP or PVP.
Usually when a new procedure such as PVP is introduced, after a while an
improved product or procedure is introduced.  Does anyone know if this
Going abroad for PVP11 Apr 2005 19:35 GMT11
I have finally had an uro-dynamics test, after opting for private treatment,
and the result has been fairly encouraging. The urologist said that I had a
fairly small prostate but that it was growing in such a way as to impede
urination and cause retention.  My bladder is fine and in ...
Other prostate Msg boards?10 Apr 2005 23:35 GMT3
My father has a relatively large prostate and has been self-catheterizing
off an on due to urinary retention problems for the past 6 weeks.
It took me almost a full day to find any message board on prostate
problems, and i am really happy i just found one.  First question is are
A delicate question about Flomax09 Apr 2005 19:59 GMT4
Flomax works by relaxing the smooth muscles in the prostate which widens the
chanel and allows the urine to flow more freely.
I find that it is so effective at relaxing muscles in this area that I have
to be careful when urinating or urine will not be the only thing that I will
After PVP09 Apr 2005 19:51 GMT8
I underwent a PVP a week ago and still seem to have a swollen prostate
which seems to restrict flow.  Is this common?   What do you do to
eliminate the swollen prostate symptom?
My BPH Without Symptoms08 Apr 2005 20:11 GMT3
Because of a slightly elevated PSA (from 2.7 to 3.7  in the past
year), my primary care physician sent me to a urologist. He did a
digital exam, lab tests, and another PSA (it went down to 3.1). His
recommendation was a cysto, which he did (it hurt, regardless of what
TherMatrx08 Apr 2005 20:06 GMT4
Has anyone had any experience with the TherMatrx?  My uro has presented
this as a possible option.  Any info would be appreciated.
PVP in New Jersey?08 Apr 2005 17:51 GMT4
Laserscope.com now lists two doctors doing PVP in NJ: Marc Colton, and
David Dershewitz, both in Denville. Has anybody dealt with either, or have
information (e.g. the # they have done, etc.?)

PVPers...........a couple of questions.......asking for advice07 Apr 2005 04:55 GMT6
Am scheduled for a PVP on April 18th. It will be done at 4 in the
afternoon and they will keep me in the hospital overnight. Don't know
if that is standard practice with them or they are doing it because of
my diabetes and asthma.
